Driver Assistance Pro Package
I’m thinking about getting a ‘24 BMW X5 xDrive40i and am in the process of researching what options I want. One option I’m considering is the Driver Assistance Pro Package. I haven’t been able to find much information and details on this option, and what I have come across has been fairly vague.
Do anyone have specific details on its operations and functions or at least links to websites that give more definitive insight into this option? At this point, I figure BMWUSA is being vague on purpose to allow for feature adjustments throughout the lifecycle. |

I was back and forth on this as well and found this article helpful:
https://www.jdpower.com/cars/shoppin...ving-assistant It seems the main differences are that DAP includes adaptive cruise control (semi-autonomous driving on the highway) and lane-keep steering assist (regular driving assistant only includes lane departure warning). Both include the standard blind spot detection, lane departure warning, low-speed collision avoidance, pedestrian detection. |

BMW is definitely not hiding anything. Google is your friend :
Regarding, The value I would not get a car without the professional package. It helps so much with minimizing fatigue on long drives, and makes things easier with lane change assist and a host of other things. The video linked above should answer most questions you have. Good luck! |

I think most people say that its a must have. I just simply dont use any of the features personally. I dont often do long highway drives though so maybe thats why.

One consideration for adding it is selling your car down the road. Years from now the features in the DAPP will be pretty commonplace (I’d argue they are now tbh). Even if you won’t use DAPP much, having it may make it easier to offload your car when you decide to move on to something else.

DAPP is just adaptive cruise and lane keeping at the same time. The lane keeping isn't even very good TBH. It gets confused by even slightly worn out road markings and all but the gentlest turns. |

DAPP is more than just LKA and Adaptive Cruise. The OP is considering a 2024 not a 2023. |

I have DAPP on my 2023 X5, and it's a game changer. I just spent the last 3 months on the road, and used DAPP for most of my cross-country driving and it was great. I imagine Highway Assist on the 2024+ models is even better, but I have no specific experience using it.
I've logged close to 12,000 miles since getting my X5 about 8 months ago, and a good portion of those miles (probably about a third or more) were driven using DAPP. There are definitely scenarios where it doesn't work well, but I found that the boring highways through the middle of the country is where it thrived, and it definitely did most of the heavy lifting. |

I will not buy a BMW without DAPP. I searched long and hard for my G05 as I wanted DAPP among other features. I just drove it on a weekend trip 5 hours each way with DAPP doing all of the driving, and it immensely helped with fatigue. Even driving to work in the mornings I have it on a majority of the time, especially in stop/go traffic.
The ONLY thing it doesn't seem to do well for me is coming up to a stopped car while going ~40+ mph. I usually have to start braking before the car does, even with the distance setting all the way up. Even then, I still highly recommend it. The radar sensor on the LCI looks a lot bigger, so I'm wondering if that will help with that Last edited by jimbabwe01; 05-19-2023 at 05:10 PM.. |

I believe it’s a good option not only for the driving assistance features but also for the extra safety features. I don’t have it my build as I didn’t think I needed it but then tried it on my buddy’s X3M then I felt like I missed out. By then it was too late for me to add it in my build as it was already in production. So if I could do it all over again, I would’ve added it. Figured if I had it, I had the option of using it or not but if I didn't have it, then I wouldn’t have that option altogether. Overall I think it makes driving much more relaxed and safer. When you’re spending this much on a vehicle, what’s an extra $15/month over the course of your loan to have it?? I should’ve used that logic as well when I built mine Hopefully BMW will eventually make it standard in future models, similar to how DAP comes standard in our X5's now. |

I thought "DAP" (drivers assistance package) comes standard which include lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, emergency brake detection for pedestrian and vehicles, etc... and "DAPP" (drivers assistance pro package) include semi-autonomous driving, traffic jam assistance, and dynamic cruise control. I may be conflating the two, but that's how it was explained to me at the dealership.

This is exactly what a few of us are confused about! We don't know. From the few YouTube videos I saw it seems like it. But I am not sure. If that's the case I wish I had ordered it with the DAP just to have the AR.

This feature might tip the balance for me to get the X5 over the X3 M40i, as the x3 only has the traffic jam assistant up to 40mph (not useful to me). I do a lot of highway miles and the ACC stop and go is a godsend on my 2016 x3 35i (it doesn't have lane keep assist). My choice is between the 2024 x5 $74k with highway assist or the $67k 2024 x3 m40i with lane keep assist (or maybe the 57k x3 30i). I guess both will help keep me in the lane if needed but, it might be nice to let the x5 drive itself for a bit. |
