Sport mode

I’m a first time BMW owner.
I have setup a custom Sport mode and was wondering if this setting uses any electricity?

yes, sport mode on X5 PHEV uses both the ICE and E motor. As a new owner, there is a lot to learn. Read the manual, watch a bunch of youtube videos, spend hours on this forum...you'll be impressed on the complexity and capability of your new ride. Good luck

45e or 50e?

either way, yes, the vehicle will utilize electric when needed even in Sport mode. you cannot stop this, because this is the purpose of its hybrid design. you can use Battery Control (45e) or Battery Hold (50e) so the charge level doesn’t go lower than what you want.

know this: many things in the vehicle are powered by the high voltage battery, so the vehicle will ALWAYS use electricity even when the electric motor isn’t being used.

Spend time on this forum and you will learn a great deal. It is amazing how knowegable some guys here about these complex hybrid systems.
I'm not yet ready for a PHEV SUV but it is fascinating technology to read and learn about especially when it is from guys who are using these vehicles on a daily basis.
