REPLACED ECCENTRIC BOLT Replacemt New X5M

So I had problems with my 2024 X5M which seemed to start after the integrated brake repair…whole saga of that ended with my frustration, selling it and ordering a new 2026 X5M.

I took it for break in service yesterday and asked them to check the alignment because the steering wheel felt off and it was pulling to side…similar to my 2024. I thought maybe I was just crazy and wrong.

They verified I was right and had to:

“PERFORMED REAR TOE AND CAMBER ADJUSTMENTS, REPLACED ECCENTRIC BOLTS PER REPS. ADJUSTED FRONT TOE. ALL WORKS TO SPEC.”

Could someone smarter than me help me understand how this can happen with a brand new vehicle? Has anyone else experienced this much trouble with these cars in this way? I’m disheartened and worried I have yet another vehicle with problems!?

Sorry to hear about this.

Curious what your before and after alignment specs are?

Most modern cars are not aligned from the factory. The assembly process jigs are deemed "close enough" and shipped. I would not worry about needing an alignment as long as the specs match factory and the car drives straight. Many bolts and almost all nuts are one-time use, so replacement is normal.

Many bolts on modern BMWs are spec'd to replace upon removal. The eccentric bolt which locks camber position is one of them.

Thank you for the reply’s….

Now I need advice again.

So to review I took my X5M for break in service and asked them to check alignment as I felt steering wheel was ever so slightly turned to the left and the car tracks slightly to the right….sure enough I was correct and it was out of alignment.

They reportedly aligned it and replaced those eccentric bolts mentioned above.

I stupidly didn’t ask for the alignment sheet at the time as it didn’t occur to me.

It seemed to be better right afterwards…..however, now that I’ve driven it a few hundred miles it’s doing the exact same thing again.

I’m beyond frustrated and makes me feel I’m crazy. The other factor is that a few days earlier I had my M4 in this same BMW shop getting new tires (they were only place that had them in stock) and had them do an alignment on it. My M4 is ALSO doing the same thing with wheel ever so slightly to the left and tracking to the right…..

This has to be an alignment protocol problem with this BMW place right? I’m trying to figure out what to do…my trust in this place is already low, so nervous if I took it back to them?! Should I try to get an independent alignment done?

I’m very open to help or advice, please and thank you!

You're flying blind without data. The point of an alignment is to know where you stand (on wheels/tires).

I personally don't trust car dealerships unless I know the tech doing the job is competent and gives a darn. I would've taken it to a trustworthy alignment shop from go. This way you have control over input/output.

You'll get this sorted for your siq new M - gl!
