My detailer who is doing the PPF and ceramic on my X5 sent me these pictures of the paint. No one at the dealership washed it and this is how it came from the factory. Keep in mine the areas with marks were wrapped with the white factory film for transport.

None, the residue was elsehwere these are actual marks from who knows what. I particularly like the dirt that was painted over as seen above. Nothing's perfect at least it's not in a noticable spot

I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Are those pit marks? Looks like metallic paint.

BTW, who/where did you buy from?

Those are light scratches from who knows what. Some we're under the protective white film from the factory, others were on the paint elsewhere. My dealer did not wash the car, it came straight from the factory like this. The dot is a spot of dirt on the frame before it got painted which no one noticed at the factory.

Hey Android, QQ:

I noticed you said a few times for the dealership to not wash/ detail the car. Is this just because you want your guys to do it vs theirs? As in, the dealership will not do as good and might scratch the car? Just curious as my car just got the dealership an hour ago.

No it's because dealers don't know how to properly clean the car without adding to the damage. I've never met a dealer who properly cleans cars.

On the bright side, it looks like a good orbital buffer will remove them. I would much rather find and remove scratches like that myself rather than dealer do it.

Agreed, he's correcting everything before PPF and ceramic coating so that won't be an issue aside from the one spot.

I’ve seen $125k Porsche ‘s swirled up in dealers show rooms. I’ve seen a guy walking around just wiping dust off the paint with zero lubrication. Dealers are not pain friendly. Keep in mind that a very small amount of people even notice or care. I have a sign I hang from the rear view mirror that says “DON’T WASH”. That didn’t work one time so now I go on Saturday’s and wait for the car.

The dealer did not touch my paint for the record so this was all factory unfortunately

Maybe they wiped it down at the plant. The good news is the detailer will take care of it. I always polish my brand new cars before applying a coating no matter what. Most if not all new cars come with imperfections in the paint and that’s why it’s so important to give it a good once over with polish after inspection.

I wouldn't trust a dealer to clean my windows let along touch the paint. My car is at a shop getting PPF+ceramic done so they will take care of things. I'm not mad about the paint, BMW should simply take better care of cars leaving their factory

In my opinion that’s the best thing you can do to any brand new car, especially for dark colored ones. Ceramic coatings are fantastic. I even put a coating developed just for PPF for water beading and ease of removing bugs.

Well I'm getting PPF on the critical areas, full front, a pillars, mirror caps, roof (between sunroof and windshield), rockers, door handles and door cups. Everything else is getting ceramic including the wheels and brake calipers. I'm not ceramic coating the PPF since from past experience it's very easy to clean and if needed I can apply a sealant

On my g30 and my wifes g05 the paint on these vehicles seems very thin. Both our cars have multiple chips around the front. I've never owned a car that has had this happen. And the touch up paint from the dealer sucks.

I’m not sure about my G05 (I haven’t polished it yet due to the weather) but my M4’s paint was very hard and painful to correct. I’ve never seen a vehicle without paint chips that driven a lot, that’s why I have my vehicle protected with PPF and believe it or not it gets a beating up here in the Northeast.

Both vehicles have less than 2k miles. Either way we are lucky or the paint is very thin.
