50e 21 Wheel upgrade
Hi, I have an order for a 2025 50e, been reading the forum to weed out troubles or complaints about the model like I always do before a purchase. I do see a lot of complaints on CEL issue which I home are fixed on the MY25 but also seen some complaints about tire noise on the 21 wheel pkg. Is this truly an issue o isolated, should I stick to the 20? The 21s make such a difference in looks (more agresive) Thanks

i had 21" summer performance originally on my 45e but switched to 20" all-season. road noise wasn't the issue, but rather, availability, all-season choices and overall convenience come replacement or repair time.
20" can still look pretty aggressive |

The only noise heard is from the side windows due to not being able to order the acoustic glass. |

But with that said, we always knew we would buy aftermarket wheels either a different BMW OEM wheel, replica wheel, or Rohana/Brixton wheels but they will be 21" wheels. To your point i think 21" wheels are a great middle ground of looking good, filling out the wheel well and not sacrificing ride quality with 22" wheels and increased damage possibilities with pot holes. We live in Denver, CO so the car will be seeing lots of mountain driving and winter driving. |

21" just looks bigger because they take up more room inside said diameter at the cost of reduced sidewall Last edited by nZtiZia; 03-23-2024 at 04:33 PM.. |

This is what I thought. There was a prior comment about filling the wheel well which I think is not technically correct (though you are right that the visual impact of less black rubber sidewall).

I run summer tires on staggered 741M rims and winter tires on square 740M rims. If or when I order a new one, I’ll probably order it with 740Ms, and run a square set-up all year round, for comfort, looks, and especially tire options….

So technically, the 275/45/20 tire has a bigger diameter which would fill out the wheel well more then the 275/40/21 tire lol. And yes im aware were talking mm here but they are not the exact same... Thanks for sending me down a rabbit hole this morning |

They didn't change the definition of circumference. . All measurements/calculations are done off of a vehicle.
