'25 X5 M60i Dravit Grey. Want your opinions!

Hey all!

New here, I am picking up my M60i on Thursday and I could not be more excited! I already have downpipes and a new valved exhaust on the way. I wanted to get yalls opinion though. I ordered a set of Vossen HF-5's and I REALLY wanted to get them in the Patina Gold finish offered by Vossen, but unfortunately they were not offered on this wheel. So, I did the next best thing and reached out to prismatic powders (the supplier of the powdercoat color) and sweet talked them into telling me what the name of the powder Vossen uses, and they spilled the beans. So, naturally I ordered the powder and set off to find a specialist that can strip, machine brush and polish my brand new wheels before coating them Patina gold. My question is, how do yall think the Patina Gold will look on the Dravit Grey. I realize that was a long ass explanation to get to a simple question 😝. But interested to hear yalls opinions!

I think it will looks great! It’ll pull the gold flakes in the dravit paint out. What are you going to do with the wheels that came with the car?

Good color combo, in my view. And a good wheel choice!

Not a fan of Dravit myself (I went with the other “crystal-derived” color BMW offers, the tanzanite), but I understand the following dravit gets - it sparkles in direct sunlight

I’m much more interested in how the exhaust turns out for you. Sadly, the soundstage is a major letdown when it comes to the M60i’s driving experience

Yea tanzanite is a beautiful color but I feel like I'd get sick of it quickly. I always revert back to "safe" neutral colors in the end.

Congrats and excited for you and the mods to come.

I don't think patina gold is the right complementary color for Dravit but what do I know...I've got a Mineral White rig. with satin black wheels.

Dravit has various shades depending on the lighting. Good luck on the wheel color choice!

Here is a link to another member who had run some gold OEM wheels on their Dravit

Certainly appreciate the input and appreciate the link. I think the wheel choice definitely matters as well as the shade of gold. And I'm not a fan of either of those in that link you posted. That's not to say I will love my choice either, but I KNOW after seeing the one you just sent that I hate that one 🤣

I’m about to pickup the same thing from the same dealer! 😆 Going Dravit on Tartufo on the bi-color 22’s. Not sure what I’m going to do yet, maybe start off with some CF mirror covers then maybe the brake inlets to give it some originality. Gold rims are way off for me, but I’m interested to see how it comes out and the exhaust!

Yea idk black wheels are extremely overplayed to me, and I'm not crazy about the silver vossens. I feel like it's worth the risk as I'm not getting rid of my factory wheels so I can always fall back on them.

Yeah, I’m not big on all black either. Also too played out. Are you going to get PPF or anything? I plan to but not sure where to go. Any suggestions?

I recommend Gulf Coast Auto Shield. I’ve used them on multiple cars for PPF and tint and they always have the best pricing and quality of work is great!

The owner of Apex Auto detail was the one who suggested them to me when I went in for ceramic coating. I got the PPF done first and then went back to Apex for ceramic coating. Got a bit of a discount for mentioning apex was the referral.

First off, congrats on your new ride. Not sure I have seen the wheel/color combo you are going for, but once you get it...please post pics...now I am curious.

Those wheels don't look fun to clean.

Surprisingly not as bad as the Vossen HF-7’s I had on my Range Rover. Those were a pain in the a$$.
