Why do the 2024 X5 and 2024 X7 have the same packages with different features?

I am comparing the 2024 X5 with the 2024 X7. Please let me know your thoughts on the below comparisons:

Driving Assistance Professional Package
Cost: $2,100 on either car
X5 says it includes Active Driving Assistant Pro and Highway Assistant only.
X7 says it includes Active Driving Assistant Pro, Highway Assistant, Traffic Jam Assistant, Active Lane Keeping Assistant (with side collision avoidance,) and Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go.

Parking Assistance Package
Cost: $900 on either car
X5 says it includes Parking Assistant Professional, Surround View with 3D view, and Active Park Distance Control.
X7 says it includes Parking Assistant Professional and Surround View with 3D view only.

Not sure where you are getting the descriptions from but they are not complete, maybe for space. DAP for the X5 definitely includes much more. Likely the case with PAP.

How can I find that chart?
I got my descriptions from the BMW website when you build the cars. When you go to add the package, it tells you what the features are.

That would make sense. That is from the pricing guide. Here is the latest one I have seen for the X5 and would imagine they have a thread on the X7 forum for it.

Sometimes different models include features as standard that are options on other models hence packages cost more or less.

Thanks for all the replies. The pricing guide was extremely helpful. More detailed than the build website. I suppose my concern is that I don’t see the traffic jam assistant on the X5, but it is on the X7. If the package is the same price and same technology installed, why wouldn’t they include it on both?

Traffic Jam Assistant, Active Lane Keeping Assistant (with side collision avoidance,) and Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go.

These terms refer to the older ADAS that was on the 2023 X5 and earlier. Its still there on the new X5 but you also get of course the newer highway assistant functionality on certain roads.

The simple answer is because someone didn't put it on the page. The configurator is notoriously incomplete and and incorrect. While it is the face of the ordering system for a customer it should be treated as the last place to go for information. BMW builds great vehicles not web interfaces.

Traffic Jam Assistant is the ACC with Stop and Go and Steering Lane Control. There was also an Extended Traffic Jam Assistant which referred to the hands free mode. The limit on that has been raised to 85mph with Highway Assistant.

So to be clear, Traffic Jam Assistant, which I see listed if I spec out an iX, is also going to be with the DPP package on the 24 X5? In looking at the chart above from the pricing guide, I do not see Traffic Jam Assistant as one of the included package features.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Yes, the functionality will be there. Traffic Jam Assistant is another name for Adaptive cruise with steering/lane control. It is commonly called Assisted Driving and Cruise Mode 2.

Thanks for the confirmation. Some consistent naming conventions would be customer friendlier, but as long as the tech is there and the build good cars, I can live with the marketers' inconsistencies.

Appreciate the help!

"same packages with different features"

if different features are included, how could they be the same packages?
