2024 X5 50e Lights

Do the 2024 X5 50e lights that come with the executive package have the Adaptive LED lights in the US?

While the DOT made adaptive headlights legal in the USA last year, as far as I can tell, BMW has not modified their system to conform to the requirements that are different from what was designed for, and accepted for much of the rest of the world.

The Executive package includes 552 Adaptive Full LED headlights. Keep in mind, this does not mean they are adaptive (anti-dazzle) beam lights in the US. BMW currently does not have any headlights that were tested/certified to meet the US regulations.

If you’re referring to the swiveling function (curve adapt) they do not for the LCI, that feature was removed. They do still have cornering lamps and auto leveling. I also believe that in other countries they have adaptive high beams.

iD8 uses secure cloud coding so except for some small cosmetic changes coding can't be done anymore.

While maybe annoying, it prevents you from making the vehicle technically out of spec in the USA. AT some point, BMW will make their hardware and software match up to the DOT requirements...until then, sorry about that. Personally, I've not done it to mine, but then, I don't really drive all that much at night. If I did, I would. Depending on the OTA updates, sometimes, you have to recode that functionality, so if you can't do it yourself, you're paying to have it done again, sometimes at a discount, but still.

There are a bunch of other things that can be coded that do not make the vehicle technically illegal.

Yeah. I get it. Not sure how many OTA update. Occur so would be a waste of $$$ to keep recoding.

I believe you do NOT have to accept OTA updates. But, once accepted and installed, you cannot go back.
