Nervous to take delivery

I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous as hell to take delivery of my 40i. Anybody who spends any time on this board has seen all the posts about the car play issues, the iDrive issues, the buzzing/rattling issues, and frighteningly, the driver intervention issues and the breakdown issues. I understand these are risks we take when going with a completely new model, but $80k+ vehicles should not have these issues.

I’m sure these account for a small percentage of the completed vehicles, but at the very least it takes the excitement out of a new car, and more seriously, makes me fearful to drive the damn thing.

Not to worry, you’re going to love it. You’ll forget all about those minor things that may not even be there but if they are will be corrected.

It’s just like when you have a child, the love is instant once they’re in your hands, so what if they have funny looking ears... .lol, ok, I went too far, didn’t I...

I just want my car ASAP. These issues posted here don't bother me the least bit. I don't even care about CarPlay. Have it in one of my cars and barely ever use it (I do use iPhone).

FWIW people who comment about reliability or in general customer service issues are the ones having trouble. It’s self selecting. But that means there are a whole host of non posters where all is well. I picked up my 40i Tuesday before Thanksgiving. No rattles. A few minor bugs in the software that don’t happen all the time but highly tolerable.

And as for the quality vs the price argument...if you look at modern software development practices in every industry, it favors speed and agility to market over bug reduction.

Not every industry. That said, management often favor deadlines over quality because that's what their management reward.

Mine is a week 49 as well and I'm just excited to hopefully get it soon.
If there are any issues, I will deal with them.
I don't think you need to be fearful.
The driver intervention can be set to minimum as far as I understand. I didn't get that package because I don't need or want it, but from what I read here the sensitivity can be toned down.
Breaking down would be extremely annoying (at night on a deserted mountain road, during a snow storm and no cell signal. Great story for the next party )
I try to put things like that into perspective by telling myself if that was the worst that happened to me this year, I'm lucky indeed.
Hopefully your car will arrive free of all issues and you will enjoy it.

Curious as to why you responded in the fist place if my post didn’t apply to you, let alone a second time. Slow work day? Low self esteem? Need a keyboard-fight pick me up? I don’t understand people like you, which is why I don’t really care about people like you. If anything, I pitty poor souls that thrive on (pathetic) attempts to belittle someone else’s concerns.

Good luck to you.

We've owned ours for a month and the only issue we've had is the Apple Pay piping up, which isn't a problem at all. It's been smooth sailing for us. My wife has a smile on her face every time she drives it.

Yeah, new model, a little more risk of having bugs to work out, but it has a warranty, so they'll fix it. Nothing to get your panties in a wad about. Maybe you'll have a problem or two, maybe not. But, same could be said about a second or third year model. Life is full of risks.
Did you want someone to hold your hand when you go pick it up and tell you it will all be ok?
Honestly, I don't know what kind of a response you expected to get.
If you are truly worried about buying one, then don't.

Guys, can't we all just get along? Maybe a nice group hug? While I think the OP is guilty of excess hyperbole (fearful to drive the damned thing? nut up, bro), I think some of the concerns are valid. Forget the CarPlay issues etc...that's all minor and will get worked out, but the steering intervention is a bit disconcerting (yes, I know it can be turned off). The fact that BMW feels okay including a system that many here agree should be turned off just seems odd...and we've had two incidents of cars going into limp mode in the last week. My F15 has been great, and while I'm excited to get the G05 (waiting for the third row to be available), am I pumped to hear tales of limp mode and near-death by steering intervention? You're damned right I am.
