BMW red/blue control wheel

I've been driving BMW's since 1988 and they all have come with the red/blue control wheel to control the temp that comes out of the middle dash air vent. This control wheel is missing from the G05.

Question: Do any owners of the G05 miss this control wheel (pictured) or are they just fine with how the G05 automatically controls the air temperature.

There is still a red/blue wheel but it's buried in the climate menu and it's electronic. Easy enough to get to and adjust. And like in my '14 528 and '16 435, it is for the whole "upper body" (dash vents, inboard and outboard) , not just the center vents like it used to be.

I never fiddled much with the one on the dash anyway. It was usually red for winter, blue for summer

I’ve never understood this feature. Just Adjust the temp setting...why have two ways to adjust the temp?

It's been the topic of much discussion over the decades, but
I think what it does is allow you to vary from what group of vents (dashboard or footwell) the warm are is coming from . You may want warm are on your face but not on your feet or vice versa. The overall tempature of the cabin is based on your tempature setting in degrees. This wheel controls from where that heat comes to get to that set cabin temperature. I've always liked it and would use it instead of changing the overall tempature setting. But, it does see a bit redundant.

Liked it

I have liked this feature as well (after I understood what it does) sometimes I need the upper registers hotter or colder than normal and it’s nice to adjust that and keep the overall car temp the same. I guess I don’t change the dial that much so I hope It will be ok just electronically adjusting it in the menu... (hopefully I can program a button to get to it) ... also I found just making minor adjustments has a noticeable effect so I usually keep it in the center and slightly change it.

I miss it, too. Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I, too, have been a BMW driver since '88. Used it a lot. I think my '15 MINI had it as well...

I also like the wheel. Simple way to fine tune the temperature and cabin comfort.

As Wrickem said it’s still there just electronic now and in the AC menu. A bit of a pain if you used to continually adjust it but now with the G05 we keep it in the middle until the temps get extreme and then go full red or full blue.

But... bit of a pain. This "fancy new system" took easy things and made them hard. It's been very frustrating.
