Consumer Reports X5 and GLE Comparisonn

CR compared these two heavy hitters with results no one should be surprised by. The X5 handily won essentially in all areas.

We predicted this with just the specs of the new GLE months ago. MB isn’t pursuing driving performance as they once did years ago. Audi has followed the same path so really it’s a battle for second place between Audi and MB.

Or, according to CR, 13th place lol.

Curious to see the list of 1-21.

BMW holds the top spot in all Luxury SUV categories, technically mini holds the entry level title but it's still BMW owned.

Thanks for posting this. Without knowing the full criteria, I'd have to say probably the most surprising to me is how high up the Infiniti QX60 is rated in the mid-size category. But perhaps there's a value play there.

I can't believe they are recommending a Lexus GX over the new GLE — makes me question credibility. My mom has a 2011 GX, which is still fundamentally the same vehicle for sale today! Thirsty underpowered 300hp V8 with just a 6 speed auto. Hey, kudos to Lexus for finding a way to still sell them like hot cakes.

As a dolled-up Land Cruiser, still likely the best luxury off-road package today, barring Bentley or Rolls (or the LX). Body-on frame, with all the compromises of off-road - it's high, it corners like a hippo, it gets rotten fuel economy - it's probably the only luxury SUV advertised as "off-road" that I would actually consider really taking off-road.

It's true it has good off-road cred (it's a dolled-up Land Cruiser Prado ), but I would bet $5 that 95% of GXs never leave pavement. I can understand it being highly rated in an off-road publication, but not Consumer Reports as compared to the brand new GLE.

Clearly your livelihood does not depend on the creation of content for which you are paid. When you copy someone's content that they are paid for by a paywall and publish it for public consumption, you are depriving them of the payment they otherwise might receive. You may think it is trivial, but to those that have to make a living by creating something that others think is valuable and obtaining payment from them, it is not. Clearly you thought the content was valuable, otherwise you would not have posted it here.

Again, not cool.

Oh, and I have reported it.

Pasting content behind paywalls here is not cool. It’s not only a violation of the subscriber’s agreement when they signed up for service, it also allows CR to open claim against the person.

I suggest that you take it down yourself and hope other people don’t repost, otherwise you are liable in the court of laws for alleged lost revenue.

The CR rating definitely played a part in our decision for the X5.

Don't be ridiculous. This is essentially free advertising for CR.

you do realize that this stuff occurs daily and whether I post it or someone else does no one is going to stop it. This is the reality of such content which the publishing company is well aware of and accepts as the cost of doing business. That cost is transferred to those who pay for it as is so since I pay for it there's no issue. If anything this might get CR more subscribers due to the free advertising.

I did at one point write freelance for a very large tech site. They didn't have a paywall and those who viewed my articles using an adblocker may cost the site a tiny amount of revenue. This encourages them to use else invasive ads so people don't feel the need to block them as much.

There's more to life than getting upset over something that's part of doing business
