G06 X6 40i PCD Delivery & Trip
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com My trip details as follows. Day 1 - Driving South to PCD With everything going around nowadays, I opted for the rental car option for my trip to PCD instead of flying. I had high hopes for a good rental to enjoy the drive from Baltimore to PCD, but no luck I had to negotiate with Avis to get me something better, especially that my rental was for a luxury SUV and there choices was all bad. Eventually they gave me this, which is less than what I opted for but at least better than the first option. As a result, the drive down was not the most interesting, but OK, lots of cops along the way but managed it through Arrived @Mariott Greenville around dinner time. You can see the impact of COVID-19 on the area, too many places closed and for leases signs are everywhere. The Marriott itself is in dire need of some updates. I opted for a second night so I can have more time for delivery and not rush things. Day 2 - The Delivery/PCD Experience In the morning, I had the shuttle waiting to transfer me to PCD. Arriving @PCD I saw my ride for the first time ever Then the day started with lots of interesting driving event. I got to do that in a nice X6M (non-competition) but wow what a car Definitely had a lot of fun, with many activities. My most fun one was the offroading and I never thought the X car can handle such a challenge. Now it is time for delivery Then, drove the car for the first time and more pics Only 5 miles on the clock Once delivery is done, they escorted me to the museum, not the biggest but OK. My most two interesting displays were those two Now, leaving the facility and ending the day with some driving around in my new commuter Day 3 - Trip to Asheville and Gatlinburg I started early morning to be able to complete what I planned in the day. I drove to Chimney Rock park, then Asheville, NC, then Gatlinburg, TN, very scenic roads and enjoying the new ride Now, it is time for first gas stop The Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge areas were scary, apparently people there never heard of COVID-19, it is life as normal as it can be. I drove around in the car and did not take any risks Day 4 - TN Tri-Cities Stay As I started to drive back home along the I-81, not much there other than trying to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nonetheless, stayed one night in Kingsport/Bristol area. Day 5 - Visiting South VA and Back Home The last day started with a plan to visit the Blue Ridge Parkway but before reaching there I made multiple stops at VirginiaTech, Roanoke, VA; went to the transportation museum, and then to BRP More pics from driving along the parkway Then, went for dinner and start the long 6 hours drive back home. It was a really fun delivery, only second to my 2011 F10 Munich delivery If you have a chance to do it, I highly recommend it ... thanks for reading the post Last edited by psuibmw; 10-18-2020 at 01:57 PM.. |

I drove all over, VA to NC to SC all the way down to ATL, and my favorite part is the nature, just pure nature. As you drive down the hills, some of the scenes look unreal. Like scenes from movies where you go "this can't be real" but it is.
I was near Spartanburg, and asked the local "where to eat" they pointed "yee that way, The Beacon".. LOL, let me tell you that was some experience I never thought I'd have. "Plenty" never meant "fill my tray with fries". Your X6 looks amazing, have fun riding that beautiful vehicle. I can't want until kids are old enough to get their own cars so I don't need to haul stuff on mine and not worry about who needs to sit in the back, then X6 here I come. I had X6 for a brief period, people think it's just a slanted X5, but they can't be any more wrong. It drives completely different, almost like a sedan with wide 20 or 21" tires. No interior shots for us?

Awesome write up and congrats on the new ride! I'm sure your new X6 felt extra special after hours spent in the not so great rental car

Thanks, appreciate that! And yes the G05/G06 is in a totally different league that the Hyundai/Kia league ... I'm a bit surprised that some people here compare them alike
