if the S-series motor thing is true, that's a kick in the pants for anyone with a '22 (hi!). an HP bump is one thing (even a material one), but going to a full M engine seems out of character and dilutive to both the M brand and anyone who didn't wait for the LCI

Highly unlikely that it is not true. M Performance vehicles are part of BMW M so dilution isn't really a problem. Many other things separate M Performance from M cars. As far as those who didn't wait for the LCI, that is just the way things happen. If one constantly waits for the next thing they will never get it.

Other than the HIFI and deleted fog lights, I am happy with my '22.
Style-wise, I think it's the best looking SUV on the market and delighted to have the "last" year of the current vehicle. |

- LCI in 04/23. - In production until 07/26 (G05, F95) and 03/27 (G06, F96) - F95/F96 X5M/X6M LCI is moving to S68 - Getting renamed to X5/X6 M Competition (no more Comp option - just one version remains, like we've seen with other M model refreshes). - The official output of the gasoline unit will remain at 600hp but since this is a mild hybrid we should expect a small bump in the actual performance.

M60i and X5M will use the same engine at different levels of tune. The output of the engine itself is rated at the same level as the engines it replaces. However, the complete powertrain will be supplemented by a mild hybrid system that will increase the actual real life performance.

Not really but not worth arguing over it. There is a lot more to an X5M than the engine.
