X5 40i M-Sport Exhaust Sound (Solution)
Since owning my new 40i with M-Sport package, I have been in a constant gaga state of excitement over the features and beautiful looks of the SUV, but I can't really get over the lack luster or complete lack of exhaust note. Previously owning an E70 X6 M50i Dinan, I can tell you it truly is a lackluster experience when stepping on the gas and not being able to "hear" the car. purr or even make any noise what so ever.
From searching on this forum and seeing feedback from fellow members about a lackluster increase in the exhaust note even with the M exhaust installed, I did a web search and came across "Maxhaust" and reached out to them in Germany and it seems there is a unique solution from the reply I received from them bellow: "Good morning, thank you for your interest in our product. The complete Set with one speaker costs 1190,00 € If you like it louder you need one speaker more it costs 540,00 € To the complete set you can choose 3 different control units -Audi control unit stage 1 V8 sound -Software-optimized control unit Level 2 (sound similar to Maserati) -Maserati control unit level 3) (Maserati Sound) additional payment 300,00 € -NEW Maxhaust Sound modul Stufe 4 - up to 5 different sounds selectable – additional payment 100,00 EUR https://www.maxhaust.com/shop Since we personally did not have the BMW X5 2019 in our garage, this vehicle has to be programmed. You can order our “universal set” and after connecting the cables, please get in touch with us via phone. Our Managing Director, Mr. Patrick Schart, makes the programming with you. For any further questions, don´t hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, Mit freundlichen Grüßen Nathalie Hinze Media-CarTec GmbH Maxhaust Jahnstrasse 27 D-63533 Mainhausen +49 (0)6182 89 59 781 Zentrale E-Mail: nathalie@maxhaust.de Internet: www.maxhaust.com " Any thoughts on this kind of an modification or personal experience from anyone who has done it in the past to any of their previous vehicles?

This makes it worse somehow that people are being "driven" to install speakers in their exhausts! It is a money grabbed and I think BMW should be ashamed. Everything else is perfect - so why fall at this hurdle!

You can code ASD options on other series so eventually it might be possible to modify the engine sound and volume on the G05. |

Nothing at all wrong with the engine sound (quite meaty IMO), but if I have paid for something called an M Performance Exhaust (or whatever it is called) then it should make a noise. False advertising?
Panamera without S/E makes a lovely overrun on change down and a little pop when changing up under acceleration. That's all we are asking for BMW : ) |

Well, because, California. My understanding is that BMW is also one of the auto groups that say they will comply with future CA efficiency standards (mpg), in spite of whatever Federal standards are imposed, which are very likely to be less.
