Bimmercode Updates?

I'm getting a software update, my first one since delivery in February, this week. I have coded my car and understand I will need to recode it after the update. Are there any recent additions to Bimmercode and will they automatically appear when I open the Bimmercode app on my phone? I'm new to coding and only plan to code those items that are available without engaging "Expert" mode. Thanks.

If you get upgraded to 07/2019.53 standby to wait. The Bimmercode app does not work with the latest istep yet and will need to be updated before you can use it again (confirmed with the developer today). The only features that are currently codable on the latest istep are the memory for ASS, some useless Climate Control settings and the speed/distance the PDC cameras switch off.

The firmware update overwrote my coding. Not a huge surprise, but just know you will lose any coding you may already have done. And as russelldav said, you will lose a couple of editable ECUs until BimmerCode catches up with the new firmware.

Thanks, guys. Am I to understand that I WILL be able to recode the ASS staying at the last setting immediately after getting the update at my dealer?

That's good news. I really want to recode my car so I can shut my tailgate with the key.

Nice, hope he opens up the ability to do the assisted driving view that everyone is coding with e-sys with that.

I specifically asked him this twice and he ignored me both times! I hope its an easy feature request for him because the coding is pretty simple and well documented.

A minor issue that I'm having with the G05, or the X3M for that matter, is no rear fog light. Assuming the light switch gets changed, can Bimmercode turn that functionality on?

I've activated the rear fogs on several BMWs but I had to buy and install a Euro light switch.
Don't think the US models have a rear fog setting on the switch, do they?

I may just bite the bullet and bye esysx so I don't have to wait, originally tried to get my esys launcher updated but token master wouldn't respond for 3 months of trying so then tried bimmercode which makes life easier. Esysx and I could code it 10 minutes from now, so may just suck it up and pay for it.

Can you use eSysX inside a Windows VM on a Mac? It says on their website it can't be a VM. Just wondering if anyone has tried it.

There is absolutely no need for a rear fog light - and I spent 30 years living somewhere that was frequently foggy. It is at best a distraction to anyone driving behind you.

Why are they required in most European countries?

Who knows Maybe some EU politician or family member has/had a factory in rear fog lights?
Very annoying because much people use the rear fog lights just with bad weather and not only with fog. Very distracting.

But our cars don't have those fugly yellow reflectors on the side like the US cars

Have not tried it but pretty sure it will not work same as esys launcher, you would have to do a small bootcamp partition and boot windows natively to use it.

When I was stationed in Germany I remember picking up my full size van in Bremerhaven and being told I had 30 days to have a rear fog light installed on the left rear bumper. The AAFES gas station had a wall full of fog lights and was doing a bang up business of installing them on service members cars. I guess this is still the case for those service members who ship a car like I did since I am not aware of any US cars that have rear fog lights.

It's interesting that some Audis and Benzs sold in the US do have rear fog lights that are activated. It's my understanding that there is an issue in terms of US DOT standards for rear fog lights but I don't know the specifics.

Anyone know if the rear fog bulbs are installed in the X cars made in SC for sale in the US? I kinda doubt they have them but am interested to know.

I use them in heavy rain and spray conditions more than fog when I can barely see the car ahead of me. They make a big difference in visibility for the car behind you.

From what I've noticed most American Merc drivers have no idea what the rear fog switch position is for.
