CarPlay subscription
I went to the Connected Drive website to purchase another year of CarPlay however the extend service now option is greyed out preventing me from purchasing it. Anyone able to purchase CarPlay?

I thought you were an early one but just wanted to check since you can only subscribe when there is less than three months left on the service. it could be they are not charging for it right now due to the issues. Keep us updated and let us know if carPlay still works when it is past a year. Good luck.

I heard it was listed as life but now they say 20 years. I assume that 20 years is tied to a specific vehicle and not a license that can be transferred for 20 years. I'm currently leasing so it would not make sense for me to by the 20 year license on this one unless I can transfer it to my next one.

If you plan on keeping it more than 4 years then the 20 year option would be the least expensive. Unless of course they decide to not charge for it for an extra year or so due to the problems.

I was thinking of calling and complaining, had it for almost a year and only really worked well enough to use it since 2 weeks ago with .55 update, so basically my free year was BMW fixing their shitty buggy code before it worked.

So my CarPlay subscription expired 11/1. I was not able to renew online and waited until this morning to call to renew. They told me they are unable to renew my subscription and have to open a ticket to fix the problem and it can take up to 30 days. I hate to say it but it’s incompetence and it’s starting to get to me.

That sucks. I was hoping the issue with not being able to renew was be use they were going to give an extended free period due to the issues. Turns put they even have issues trying to take our money for it.

I have an 10/2018 X5. CarPlay subscription ran out and I had the same grayed out CarPlay option on the connected drive website. But it just started working again without me renewing anything. 👐🏻
Hopefully they've realized how crazy it is to charge for this on SUV's at this price point... Though I very much doubt it. Ha |

Purchased in November 2018 as well and CarPlay vanished and I am NOT able to renew at this point. What kind of joke is this? BMW, are you listening????
