Have been reading a lot regarding the Laser vs Non-Laser lights on GO5 ... still can't believe what a big confusion BMW made with those Non-Laser lights. The biggest issue is that even the sales guys can't really tell the actual difference between Laser vs Non-Laser lights.
Can anybody confirm that these are the actual differences: 1. Visual - daylight on Non-Laser is only on the bottom, like U, whereas on Laser daylight is "a true angel light" with full C (looks much much better) 2. Visual - Laser has got the additional blue X inside. 3. Visual&Functional - the inner "bulb" on the Non-Laser is dummy, that said, it does not have any "bulb" and is not functional. 4. Functional - Laser lights fires up the "laser mode" when driving fast enough, providing better visibility. I have a question regarding 3. - since the Laser lights activates both "bulbs" (inner and outer), does this provide better visibility on both low and high lights vs. the "single bulb" on Non-Laser lights? And one additional question - has anybody compared or has some real-life experience regarding the "adaptiveness" of both Non-Laser and Laser variants? I'm asking this because I've seen some poor performance of "adaptiveness" on some "Non-Laser adaptive LED lights", for example my friend was disappointed with adaptive LED lights on F90 because in many occasions the lights blinds the opposite driving cars ... so I would just like to double-check weather there are any differences in this regard with this Non-Laser vs. Laser wars. Thanks for the information! |

1, 2 and 3 are correct. For 4, the laser is only active in high beam over 37mph.
The non-lasers are actually brighter in low beam than that lasers, that us why they create the glare that got them the poor rating from IIHS. The laser lights would be better in all conditions and usage. |

I would add point 5: adaptive LEDs don't have the separate cornering lights at all (at least here in FI), so they are missing not one but two 'bulbs' On the positive side, the adaptive and anti-dazzle features work surprisingly well even on the adaptive LEDs. On twisty roads, the headlights lights turn to point in the direction of travel. The high beams stay on even with some cars in front and oncoming, as the turn to point away from the road and illuminate the side of the road. This video is helpful although the G05 adaptive LED setup is not identical: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v19IgSGr28&t=30s. My own experiences are similar, and while many drivers here react to dazzling by flashing their high beams, I have not had one such protest yet. |

I have the laser lights, but was simply stating the anti dazzle feature works well, should have mentioned I had laser lights. I used E-SYS to VO code this feature, as TB mentioned you can’t do this with Bimmercode.
