This is accurate. Uk users with 11/2019.x and other pre-reqs, should get the option to purchase DR early next year.

Some other regions, such as AUSY, are already making this available to 11/2019 istep cars.

Hopefully the bean counters will be pushing hard for Engineering to roll this out globally and make up the deficit for all those CarPlay subscriptions they had included in the 5 year forecast

My dealer would not install 11/2019.xx because I did not have a specific complaint that would be addressed by this software upgrade.

Will we be able to argue that the only way we can purchase and activate DR is only after having 11/2019.xx installed?

It pisses me off they do this. You have to pull the CarPlay is acting weird card to get an update. Did you get the recall work done? I know they said some vehicles didn't need it, which confused me.

No reason they can't install it...it's the least they can do since BMW hasn't rolled out OTA.

Just tell them CarPlay is unstable and that your instrument cluster went completely black for a few seconds whilst you're driving. They will not question it.

LOL, it would be awesome for your dealer to prove that. He can't, of course, because BMW has no record of changes in software versions so anyone including customers, dealers, and BMW can make up whatever random stories they want.

Tell him your camera doesn't rationally switch to where it needs to be endangering life and property and you want it fixed. That's good for at least 5 visits for software updates. See my videos and many other discussions.

Tell him you're tired of having to reboot iDrive once a week to fix BC button issues and obvious communication crash of the dash displays with the rest of the car. And have him PROVE that 11/2019.xx DOESN'T fix that.

Show him the "random" characters identifying your radio stations and say enough is enough, you're tired of your radio station being called "Usgi" for the last 6 months. Then show him how the media system forgets that you're on Presets every cycle.

There is just so much to draw on. And no one can prove whether anything is or will be or isn't fixed in any version.

I turned in one sheet of notes including three areas to explore related to 11/2019.xx. However, none of those were approved - including the rear to front camera well known here - which is a contrast to the early days when this was no question about updates. One episode meant they had to keep the car 1 or 2 days longer because they did not have the version I needed some months ago.

I told both my SA and salesperson that it was disingenuous of BMW NA to make me beg for software updates for an automobile costing $90K that promised so many ongoing improvements.
