Our 2020 X5 sDrive40i is in Production!
Okay that was extremely fast. My dealership placed the order for me on Saturday (1/11) and the car is in the "Production Begins" stage already, with a VIN. We were aiming for a late-Feb/early-March delivery, but looks like it may be a lot sooner (though I prefer March because the rates/incentives may be better; we locked in January, not December).
Our build is the following: 2020 X5 sDrive40i - xLine Alpine White Cognac Vernasca Leather Fineline Stripe Brown High Gloss Wood trim 21" Y-spoke bi-color wheels (Style 744) w/ PRF tires -------------------------------------------------------------------- Executive Package Luxury Seating Package M Sport Brakes Acoustic glass Front and Rear Heated Seats Heated Front Seats, Armrests & Steering Wheel Harman Kardon surround sound system -------------------------------------------------------------------- Total MSRP - $72,820 Last edited by bluzbra; 01-15-2020 at 12:54 PM.. Oddly when I search for the VIN on MDecoder, it says "Vehicle Not Found." Has anyone else had this issue when the VIN is first issued? Does something usually come up once the car is in the "Assembly" phase?

I understand the VIN is not active for MDecoder or Manual download until closer to the end of the production process.

Update: Called Customer Relations and the automated system gave me an estimated production completion date of January 27th. So the timeline so far is:
01/11 - Order Placed 01/14 - Production Begins phase 01/27 - Estimated production completion |

Congrads on a fast production
Observation- It definitely looks to me like 40i models are getting scheduled for production much faster than M50i's after orders are confirmed. |

Thank you! I think it might have been the case that the dealer already had an allocation for an sDrive40i and the last day to make any changes to it was probably a couple of days away from when he placed my order (using that allocation). That way when he placed the order for me, it went straight into production phase. Otherwise it makes no sense to me how quickly it went from Order to Production in light of some of the other users' posts I'm seeing re allocation issues, etc. And I agree, it seems the 40i models are a lot quicker to go into production versus 50i models.

Week 5, I called Bmw they said 27th but add a week for transportation to your Massachusetts dealer give or take a few my original order was from November but the dealer F'd up, I was on Christmas vacation returning on January 6th the next day I was picking it up but the truck was not what I ordered, (no M sport) I had to show my confirmation sheet that we signed etc, they blamed Bmw, waited a few days then they just ordered it again, this time I confirmed the #'s and checked the site for progress and it mirrors your order schedule to be honest, I'm not aggravated how the dealer mess up, I'm mad @ my self for not confirming everything and keeping track of the build, I did it December 2018 for my M2C, fun process but thought since it's just an x5 no need Problem is January 27 plus a week we're now talking early February, I'm going out of country for 2 weeks on 2-6-2020, I'm not sure but my luck the truck is on site the day I fly out Last edited by NEfan508; 01-18-2020 at 09:48 AM.. |

Very odd. My VIN now pulls up on M Decoder and has a Prod. Date of 2020-01-18. On My Garage, the car is still in the "Production Begins" phase and according to the BMW NA automated hotline, my production completion date is January 27th. Not sure which of these three is accurate!

- My production date on Mdecoder was 1-11-2020 but according to the hotline, production would be completed on 1/18. - On the website tracker, it went through ALL stages from production begins through quality check on 1/18. - I got "Carrier assigned" on 1/19. - The automated number still as of today the 20th ( I just checked) says "your production will be complete on 1/18". That is the only update other than the webtracker regarding carrier assigned. I am sure everyone has a different story but that is mine if it helps! |

Thanks! I'm refreshing every 20 minutes lol. Now I just hope February rates/incentives are better than January so I can pick this bad boy up in a couple of weeks rather than in March.

You can refresh all you want, but their system is broken, so you will likely not get the info you’re looking for. Best way is to call the Genius number at 844-443-6487.

I believe its 844 area code, not 884. Interestingly when I call though, it says my vehicle has "Started Production" and has an ECD of 1/25 (tomorrow). Doesn't say anything about it being in assembly line. Guess I'll wait until tomorrow/Sunday to check the line and the website. Sigh.

My car is now "Awaiting Carrier Assignment." Typically how long does it take from this point until it arrives at the dealership (West Coast)?

I’ve come to conclusion MyGarage is at least a day late updating so our vehicles could already be in transit. I have no idea of transit time to West Coast but would be neat if you could track progress to your dealership. Your patience will be rewarded. Last edited by RVAGuy; 01-25-2020 at 06:02 AM.. |
