First thing to do after you've subscribed online via Connected Drive is refresh your profile and services in your Car on iDrive. (hit the globe button, then options and choose refresh). Once it appears as an App, you can configure the time it saves prior recording trigger and after (post) recording trigger. The max setting is 20 seconds prior and 20 seconds post, which means you get a 40 second recording. Triggering is easy, you can do it from the App, or hit the front Camera button on the iDrive dial console twice quickly. Note that if the car detects an "accident" event, it automatically triggers the recorder. |

My dealer said the drive recorder feature will automatically detect a “crash” and record it, even if the car is off.
Another client there had his car bumped into while parked, the car detected that and automatically recorded a clip which was used to identify the other party (it was a hit and run) |

It's an app available for purchase if you have the 360 surround view on your car. Even when you didn't spec it during order you can still add by buying the 'service' on the connected website. You do need the nov 2019 software version or up when ordering it on the connected website.
One major drawback is that the camera's are installed on the outside and get dirty. I'm still considering buying a 3rd party setup (blackvue) with camera's installed on the inside of the car. |

With all the technology available and already in/on the X5, it seems like it would be a pretty simple implementation to have it as part of the security system. Speaking of which, I’m under the assumption that if the window is broken out (smash n grab), that there is an alarm that would go off. That never was mentioned by my CA, but I assumed the when the red light on the mirror is flashing, it’s armed.

polychromatic ...you would assume, right?
I am still hoping they allow us 2019 MY scum have the app. Having all the bells and whistles on the 19 with the capability...you would think. I'll tell you what, if they don't, this will be my last BMW. |

I will also go with a Blackvue if someone figures out how to utilize the hundreds of kilos of battery in my 45e for parking mode recording without risking failure to 'start engine'. Some technical docs about the eletrical system would be very nice reading, as the ones I've found don't consider the hybrid.

Did you update to the 11/2019, and you don't have the app available or option to add online? I thought that was a thing

I have 11/2019.40, and can't find any app. Would it be on the CD portal site, or in car? It says I am subscribed to everything when I check the BMW Store in the vehicle. I do have all the surround camera and driver's assistance stuff. Hope I'm not missing something?
