Engine was warm but did not have the chance to really "floor-it", hopefully this thursday will give me a better feeling since I will be driving across mountains and beach, can wait to hit the road for the first time since I got the car....

Ok, then coding aSLA will not be possible with Bimmercode eagle_bmw

That's a shame as I was considering purchasing bimmercode to compare the psdzdata mappings, but SASx is a deal breaker. Too much good stuff to code in there.

LexxM3 if you get chance could you do an experiment for me. My dealer killed my access to DSC_VIP_IB2 when flashing to 11/2019.x, but I don't think it's used on the G05. SASx seems to take preference.

Could you code DSC_VIP_IB2 back to stock FA, wiping out the aSLA coding, and see if it still works please? I only included VIP in the aSLA coding for completeness, they are like a mirror of SASx in some instances.

Looks like VIP (Virtual Integration Platform) is used for system integration testing, which makes sense when you look at the codes in the ECU. Haven't got my head around the coding implications yet if any.

Will do. Will turn all the aSLA functions back on today to get my mental observations primed again, then in a couple of days will code DSC_VIP_IB2 to stock and report any observed changes. (I still have it all coded but functionally turned off as it wasn't useful to me on my current daily driving environment). Hopefully my Windows-reinstalled coding environment JAVA corruption doesn't return again.

From the short read of your attachment, I don't read VIP as being non-functional (or "testing-only"). I read it rather as an alternate software interface ("API") to the braking system control, abstracting different/inconsistent BMW braking/DSC systems interfaces to present a consistent interface to driving automation software. This is pretty reasonable and practical systems engineering approach when dealing with functionally-similar-but-interface/structure-inconsistent legacy system components (although it also paradoxically further increases the number of failure points and required testing permutations; i.e. a practical short term approach that will bite back in the long term).

But we'll see what clearing it to stock does ...

Thanks.

There is another document which I had read prior to posting the DSC specific content, which is more conceptual on VIP. I'll send you the link.

It will be good to bottom this. It should be easy to test as you'll most likely not be able to choose to turn on aSLA, or will get a region lock warning, if it needs VIP as well.

Interesting. Mine was just upgraded today to 11/2019.55 and I still only have 1 and 3.

I just got back from getting a software upgrade to 11/2019.55. I tried this, and for some reason CB_PRESELECT_NAVI_ANSICHT_FZG_UMGEBUNG was not found when I searched in expert mode. The other three parameters were and I was able to change them all to aktiv (01). It looks like ADV is working (took it for a test drive and it seemed to work fine, though I don't know if anything is missing).

Anyone know what CB_PRESELECT_NAVI_ANSICHT_FZG_UMGEBUNG is supposed to do?

Do you get the option to have adv on all the time instead of nav, even when drive assist is not active?

No. Of course, turning DA on and then canceling it (hitting the brake or gas) disables the DA but leaves ADV on. But no, not with a menu option. Only with that workaround.

OK, that's what CB_PRESELECT_NAVI_ANSICHT_FZG_UMGEBUNG gives you then.

When enabled in coding you can set the idrive Display to use ADV instead of Nav etc.

Results of aSLA coding without DSC_VIP_IB2 ECU

Looks like VIP (Virtual Integration Platform) is used for system integration testing, which makes sense when you look at the codes in the ECU. Haven't got my head around the coding implications yet if any.
Turned out I had removed aSLA coding a little while back so I did the following:
  • VO coded DSC_VIP_IB2 to factory just to be sure (checked, identical pre and post VO coding)
  • FDL coded BDC, HU, and SAS2 per your information; skipped and did nothing with DSC_VIP_IB2
Result:
  • works fine
  • UI allows same control as I recall having the first time
  • sets and automatically adjusts current speed based on detected signs
  • changes current speed in anticipation of navigation way points
  • uses my set (i.e. +15km/h) adjustment at both above and below 60km/h levels
So I would say your theory that DSC_VIP_IB2 is unnecessary is correct :-).

Anyone else having issues with the new version crashing. Mine works fine unless I try to read out the body control module, which is the whole point of using it as I wanted to code a few things in there. When it goes to read the line just moves slowly, never changes to a percent and starts to read, app goes non responsive and then crashes after a few minutes. Any other module still works fine for me except the newly added Body one, using an OBLink LX - sent off a report to the developer but wondering if anyone has had a similar issue?

I can confirm the Body Domain Controller ECU is now added on the current beta of Bimmercode for iOS and works beautifully. And yes, you can now code default driving mode and all 6 modes are available.

I'm on Android too, Bimmercode version:- 2.17.3-6357 to be exact, and very stable, no crashes for me.

Is your device on "Flight mode" when you're using Bimmercode, maybe the comms are being interrupted by other activity in the background?

I always put my iPhone on airplane mode to avoid incoming calls, messages or any other communications during coding, the only feature that must be open is bluetooth for obvious reasons

Yep following all the rules, going to uninstall today and reinstall and see if that fixes it, never had an issues and all ECU's work except the newly added Body one which is odd - on july software, version 55 I think.

Will report back after reinstalling.
