Downpipe Compatibility -- May Be Great News For X5 Owners
I have been looking at doing downpipes and a tune for my X5 M50i. A lot of us are, but the options aren't great to this point and there are more questions than answer. However, there are tons of downpipe options for many of the M550 and M850 crowd. If you contact many of these manufacturers, there are some questions about fitment for the G05 X5 50i and M50i. It got me digging and I spent some time finding the stock part number for the X5 50i / M50i downpipes and what models share the same part numbers. What I found is extremely good news. Here are the part numbers and compatibility charts.
What you will notice is that the 2019/20 G05 X5 50i & 2020 X5 M50i share the same part number downpipe as the 2018 550i xDrive and 2020 850i xDrive. I know for a fact there are downpipes for the 2018 550i xdrive, so it appears from this chart that those will fit our vehicle. I am really close to pulling the trigger on a set. |

I have ARM M550i catless downpipes on my 50i. Perfect fit. Also have the ECU tuned by DME (stage 2). 622 HP and 660 TQ at the crank. I'll be posting something in the coming weeks with more details and information. |

I will do a tune. There are more options than our forums show, so I will likely do some reviews of whatever I choose. We have flash and piggy options right now that work on the 50i/M50i. Most believe just DP and a tune are worth 120-140 rwhp. That is an insane bang for the buck.

ARM downpipes have been outstanding. Great sound at a more then reasonable price ($350ish). Also did an x pipe in the middle to give the car a nice throaty sound. With the tune and DP, the power difference is night and day. Feels like a different car. |

Did you install the downpipes before the tune? And the X pipe? Just curious how that change was. Changing the downpipes mess your warranty up right?

Supersprint everything is pricey. That is just the way they roll. There are downpipes for our truck under $400. As for warranty, know your rights and don’t be bullied by the dealer. My dealer tried to bully me and I explicitly stated the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act protects me. They have no legal ground to deny warranty service unless they can prove your mod did the damage. Know you rights and do not back down. Last edited by 130FeetDeep; 05-10-2020 at 10:46 PM.. |

And to shadow on 130ftdeep's point, he is absolutely correct. At our law firm, we work partly with this area of the law (lemon law, manufacturer warranty protection, etc.). I'd recommend referencing the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act of 1975 which was a federal law passed explaining the 13 step process manufacturers much abide to in order to effectively deem ones warranty "voided". Even in the event they are able to, the chances of having your entire warranty voided instead of a portion of it is unlikely. For instance, say you were to tune the car and you blew a part of the engine as a result of pushing too much boost. BMW would most likely void your powertrain warranty while keeping the other portions of your bumper to bumper intact. And shall I add, what I have provided you is in no way legal advice nor should it be interpreted as such |

I am not arguing differences as you noted above, just what we know to this point. We have members running the ARM downpipes on 2019+ 50i and shops confirming they have installed them on M50i. EDIT: It also looks like you are quoting the same part number. |

It appears it is note the same downpipe as other B58, but that doesn't mean they won't fit. I would find an owner than has done it.
