I am 4 days in on my X5MC. I immediately came from a F90 M5 Base and previously had 2 F85's and 2 E70M's. So far I think this F95 is more compliant. Very similar to the F90 a little less harsh but I think it is worlds of difference from the F85's I had, latest being a 2018. Steering, throttle response seems more direct than the F85 and the suspension is not nearly as harsh, even in the highest sport setting. Car seems much more controllable over uneven pavement not as much transition to the steering wheel.
I was really looking for a ride and handling very similar to the M5 and I found it. M5 was such an improvement over the F85 X5M and this F95 is a tall M5 albeit not as fast but close. Engine will break in and come more alive after the run in service. |

Exactly the comparison I needed. f90 (regular non-comp) is way more compliant than my previous f10 m5, and if f95 x5m is better, that is perfect. I had a g05 x5 w/ air suspension and that one rolled like a mercedes making me dizzy. |

Yes I was lucky and got Michelin's. Having driven two others with pirellis I wouldn't have bought the car without them. It's a lottery though. You really have to get the BMW star rated. The sidewalls on them are awesome

I’m about 220 miles into mine and I’m incredibly satisfied with the ride. All the talk (mostly in reviews) about it being too stiff or harsh had me a bit concerned. It’s far more compliant than I expected but still very responsive. Perfect for me. Just dropped it off to get wrapped this morning so I’ll be more inclined to open it up on the highway soon (safely of course).

For M models the official break in is 1200 miles. No change in the way the car drives/sounds. That was more a myth where dealers would unlock some power after break in service.
Keep in mind there are cases where if the 1200 mile break in service isn't performed in a timely manner that your drivetrain warranty could be revoked. There is a guy on the M5 forum with engine failure and bmw is blaming that he didn't bring the car in for the break in service over 1K miles past the 1200 mile mark.

Like Alan said break in service is at 1200 miles, they change the oil and filter as well as I believe the differential oil. My experience these engines continue to break in and get better through 5,000 miles. Mileage improves and engine responsiveness improve over time. My M5 really came alive after about 5,000 miles.

With my 540i they called me after 15000kms or so.. I changed (wanted) oil in service sooner in 2500kms and had to pay for it extra |

With all the reviews saying its uncomfortable, firm and harsh, i found x5mc to be quite comfortable and plush. Handling is also amazing and one truly loses a sense of speed with this car

I test drove an X5MC yesterday and the ride was anything but harsh. I had intended to get an X5 M50i, thinking the X5M ride would be too rough. Wrong! I’m seriously considering the X5MC now.

I’m only about 250 miles into my X5MC, but I couldn’t be happier with the ride so far. I just picked it up from getting full PPF a couple hours ago so I only have about 20 miles at highway speeds (90% of which were today on the way home from the PPF shop). Jesus, it’s powerful and smooth...kept catching myself driving way faster than I thought I was going. I never drove the X5 M50i (drove the X7 M50i as the wife considered it separately). I’m sure its awesome too from everything I’ve read, but I’ve got no regrets going with the F95. In fairness, the roads in Dallas are pretty good though...I may feel different if I lived in the northeast or Midwest.

Thanks guys. Especially for me its super helpful.
One of dealers almost made me to buy 50i cuz he said the M will be harsh and also that I dont need it for family because 50i has enough power etc... I was really scared of the harsh ride. Luckily I have my own head and went to different dealer who talked with me more and offered me much better price than the guy who wanted to sell me the 50i. |

I'm not sure if the suspension is more broken in now it seems ever so slightly more compliant now at 1600 miles. I also fixed an annoying rattle from the trunk which also helped because I use to hear a metal clank every time I hit a bump.
Overall based on what people say on the M5 forum which also has either Pirelli's or Michelins those that switch from the Pirellis over to the Michelins report that the ride quality is improved (along with everything else). Also most of you guys don't drive on shit NYC roads so that is also another variable. I envy the folks that won the Michelin lottery. The cost to swap over to the Michelin is about 2K and to get the BMW star spec Michelin is impossible at the moment for some reason. Tire rack has the rears but only the Mercedes spec fronts. Alan

X5m Competition vs non-comp is the same.
For M5 and comp that is totally different. For X3M vs comp, rear stabilizer is different so it may be a bit stiffer + 21 inch wheel. (x3m is horrible no matter what) x5m has exactly the same suspension and stabilizers. So the difference is nill. |

Having driven both versions extensively and now owning a competition. The suspension is the same regardless of model. Tires are a different story. The compliance, handling and ride from my perspective is a world of difference on the Michelins over the Pirellis.
