That’s sapphire black.

Absolutely killer build. That bike is freaking me out so close to the X5 in the garage.

Might I suggest oem black badges to complete the look. I just got mine in from Europe as no USA are allowed to order them.

Gorgeous! Congratulations and best of luck with it! Jw, curious about the ceramic coatings, what is it exactly? What ceramic does it contain and why did they have to keep it so long?

ceramic coating, acts as an additional layer of protection for your car. The ultra-fine, thin coating is manually applied over the entire car by hand and uses nanotechnology to seal the entire surface, making it water-repellant.

They have performed Paint correction and ceramic coating needs time to cure that is time it took some time.

Good idea, I think I'll have the coating put on all our cars when they arrive. Does it protect against rock chips? My current '14 X5 has a few small rock chips I'd like to have fixed first before I sell it. Now if I can find a reputable place where I live...

I would suggest you do some research on Ceramic coatings as all options are not equal. There’s a lot to detailing... ceramic coating, paint protection films, paint correction, wash methods, etc.

There are some really good coatings like Opti-Coat, Ceramic Pro, CQuartz, etc. Before application, even on a brand new car, the car should have a paint correction. It won’t prevent rock chips but it will prevent against minor scratches. If you want protection against rock chips, you should have film applied like XPEL in addition to ceramic coating.

Now that ceramic coatings have gotten popular, dealers are starting to offer them. My BMW dealer offers it now and I asked my sales person about it. I have a friendly rapport with her and she told me that what the dealer offered was “garbage” and a “rip off”.

If you’re going to invest in ceramic coating, you’re best bet is to find a detailer locally who does it and uses a quality brand. Then it’s up to you to maintain it by washing the vehicle with a proper washing method (2 bucket). There’s a lot to proper paint maintenance. My BMW dealership is on a campus of 8 luxury brands and they have two brush car washes on site, I cringe seeing the brand new cars going through that thing.

Just for an example, in the Boston area there are a few really high end detail shops that are well known. On a brand new car, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1-1.5k for paint correction and ceramic coating on all exterior surfaces including wheels.

Just make sure you don't get it on the windshield as it will screw up the wiper sensors.

Edit: I should say this was from posts that I have read in the past and have no specific information/source for not using it.
