What COVID has to do with negotiating discounts?
Every company, businesses, and even Govt. are leveraging COVID for their own advantage. If they can't manage the shit, let's blame it on COVID. yeah, it's due to COVID. Look at every company- high tech, products, resources, automotive - all laying people off because of businesses were down due to shutdown. All of them made a smart business decision - layoff workforce, increase profit on the balance sheet by lowering the opex, and increase the share price of listed company. Great! BMW sales were down 16.8% last month. If the dealer is telling you there is so much demand for these cars that they can't get an allocation. Seriously, laugh at them, Fucking hilarious. It's all wrong. It's a fake demand. BMW laid off people in their factories, no production, no allocations to dealers. Guess people were not buying new cars. It's all BS and drama. |

The traditional way of buying a vehicle is to visit a number of dealerships, then negotiate to get the best price. Because many people find this time consuming and unpleasant, not to mention unsuccessful, alternative have been devised -
1. Fixed price dealers 2. Buying services 3. Brokers. I would think that the advantage of buying from a dealer is that it establishes a relationship that may be beneficial when it comes time for service, with that dealer more willing to provide loner vehicles, etc. The advantage to using a buying service, such as Costco, is that you can get a very good price without doing any work. People on this forum, and others, seem to report good discounts and general satisfaction. That brings us to brokers. Since I have never used one I could speculate on the advantages, but since you are one, can you lay it out for me? Thanks. |

I actually had a person email me yesterday stating she received a True Car quote for 9.8% discount on an M340i xdrive in VA. Although this may be a legit deal, who knows what the MF is, rebates applied included or not, dealer fees, etc. Knowing the VA area dealers, I'm even more skeptical. 3. Brokers. Not all brokers are alike. Some don't charge a fee and make a commission from the dealer. Others charge the customer a fee instead of a commission from the dealer. Some are just are just an extension of a dealer salesperson and just try to match a payment with your budget. Others fully disclose the discount, MF, fees, etc. Some know the bare minimum about the car you are looking to buy. Others eat, sleep, breathe cars and have a wealth of knowledge on the model(s) and alternatives. I think the most important point is that there is no wrong way to buy a car using any of these 3... It's just about how much time/money you are able to save ultimately. |

How much discount can I expect to get on 2021 x5 custom order? I am in NYC. Also BMW finance has $2500 rebate, which becomes $3000 with PenFed membership. Just confirming that I can stack that on top of the rebate. |

If you are financing with BMWFS then the PenFed incentive becomes $500 which is stackable with the BMWFS finance incentive.

Last I saw there was no lease incentive for the X5 but that could have changed. Incentives are regional so they vary depending on the dealer location.

Is the $7,500 credit on the X5 45e being discounted by BMW off of MSRP for a Lease? Or did it move to a tax credit via file return now?
