Anyone seen pics of X6 with the Brushed Aluminum Trim?
I just ordered Space Gray with Black Nappa seats and Dark Bamboo Wood but am wondering if the Brushed Aluminum trim would look better.
What would you guys order? I have seen the pics on the BMWUSA online cofigurator but hard to tell what the aluminum really looks like and I do not want to order it if it is going to look plasticky or cheap in any way. |

Don't forget the Leather Dash!!
Hey Shenard,
Be careful when reviewing Palbay’s pictures of that black X6 with aluminum trim… It has the leather dash; which sucks me in every time I see it!!! The latest US brochures (which are actually, FINALLY, a real – full product catalogue) do show a “Leather Dash” option to be ordered. And though it doesn’t appear to be available for the xDrive35i, it does show as an option to be ordered against the 50i. So I’m thinking you might actually be able to order the Leather Dash option for your ’08 xDrive50i… And after staring at Palbay’s pictures, I think you’ll want to at least ask about it. Please post back if you do inquire – especially if your dealer has any pricing information. Thanks – and good luck! |

All aluminum trim would be too much for me. Especially around the glove box.
I like the standard aluminum trim with bamboo together. The problem that have have with all aluminum trim is that even though it is real, most low end cars have that look and it tends to make the car look cheap by missing the wood trim option. Also, it easily scratches.

shenard. I've seen the brushed aluminum trim in person. I don't think it looks cheap and nor feel like plastic. It's definitely different than the aluminum trim offered in a 3 series loaner that I got (note that this was last years 3 series model and it might have been a different aluminum trim; not sure about the M3).
I never liked the look of brown wood trim's too much. My parents had it in all of their cars and growing up with it. I just relate it to being for "old" folks (to me old folks = luxury too). Aluminum trim is sportier. I do like dark "black" woods, like the ones offered in Mercedes or the BMW 3 series coupe. The dark Bamboo is the only exception to my dislike of brown woods though. It is different enough from the traditional brown wood for it to feel young to me, yet it offers a more luxurious look. My choices in order of preference: Black Wood, Alumnum trim tied with Dark Bamboo, then the rest. It's funny. In America, wood trim is more popular (standard on the X5). In Europe, aluminium is more popular (and standard on the X5). This is such a subjective subject though. Go with what you think looks the best and what you'll be happy looking at each time you get in the car. |

I like the black flywheel. Too bad it's not offered in the US. Sometime interesting was that when the build your X6 was first launched. There was an option for a Titanium trim. It disappeared shortly after and I haven't seen it anywhere. Wonder if that is a future or special order trim (or maybe just a programming error. |

Good question. My statement was based on the fact that I didn't see it in the brochures nor the website's build-a-bmw. Though, it might be offered as a hidden choice for Priority 1 orders.

I actually love the black flywheel too and asked about it today and you are correct that it is not offered in US. I will probably just go with Dark Bamboo and then try and change it out for Carbon Fiber or Black Flywheel later. I would love for someone in aftermarket to come out with something like the the carbon fiber leather in the new M3. That is my favorite trim by far. |

Aluminum trim
Different countries have different set of standard options & additional options. It's bmw's way of marking up there cars to make $$$$.
Confuses/confounds the hell out of their customers. With internet access worldwide they should simplify their marketing if every coutry can have the same options. Black flywheel aluminum is offered in Canada. Be careful, At different angles, Brushed aluminum would reflect sunlite back onto your interior glass or shine in your eyes. |

As far as I know, here are the numbers for the different interior trim options:
- Ash Wood aka Dark Wood (4BN) – Dark Bamboo Wood (4AZ) – Flywheel Black Aluminum (4B6) - Brushed Aluminum (4AD) The leather covered dashboard option is 4M5 Hope that helps.
