Interesting...I had gone through the registration back in March, 2020. (AT&T) I could never figure-out what the Serial # was (I never got a notification...), so if I remember right, I just made one up...

Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot. Any chance someone could snap a picture of it so I can find the exact location? I see one box right in front of my in that left compartment which was Harman Booster box. I didn't see the other one.

https://bimmercat.com/bmw/en/search/...+M/ece/84_1150 i.e., somewhere in the mixmaster of wiring and hardware behind the first aid kit compartment. It looks like this: Somewhere in here: Or maybe behind the headliner or D pillar.... Last edited by Paladin1; 05-25-2021 at 04:23 PM.. |

There's a small box behind the B&W booster that could be it, but I don't actually know where it's located. It's fairly small (cigarette package size), so could be anywhere. I've just seen the diagrams for the general location (a la X3), and you can't really see what's behind everything unless you start unbolting stuff. As much as I'd like to assist the forum.... . Maybe Auricom can weigh in!
Here's the actual parts list: https://bimmercat.com/bmw/en/parts/i...5007/appliance Last edited by Paladin1; 05-25-2021 at 05:59 PM.. |

FWIW, the box couples the phone to the antenna on the roof to improve signal strength and optimize your cellular connection, so it's not a bad thing to use, but your phone needs to be in the tray...not just in the vehicle.
If you drive in areas where the cellular connection may be spotty, and you're not using it, you might find you can keep your connection through those spots if you do. Others, may never notice any difference. |

Look up above the RAM [pictured]. If I recall correctly it's higher up in the wheel well.

Well I finally found it. You need to get your phone way up behind the HK amp which is right in front of you when you take the panel off. It's between the HD Radio and the Amp. I use my phone and a flash light to snap a pic of it. Mine is the new model LTECOMPB1. Way to put it in a great place to register it.

LTE Compensator (Index 10) in the first diagram. It's in the left rear compartment panel, tucked behind the sound system components. While I'm at it, I might as well add more pretty pics

Probably the government is tracking you at all times. They will discover you haven't registered your LTE booster module. This will be put on your permanent record.

Transmitters in regulated frequencies are required to be registered if they malfunction and could create a public nuisance. Unlikely that your device would develop a constant broadcast jamming signal, but if it ever did, they'd likely find you regardless...then, you'd potentially have more problems other than a note to get it fixed.
The improved signal continuity in marginal areas by using the antenna on the roof seems to be worth the few minutes it might take to register the device and be legal seems a no-brainer to me. What's the big deal? |

Says the man whose state government says you can't pump your own gas in your own car. Sometimes those pesky makes-no-sense regulations can be a real nuisance...
