So I think I’ll tint my two front windows and probably do 35. I’ve got carbon black with black interior and shadow line trim so the car is already super dark.

Curious to know if more people go for 20 or 35? I’ve heard doing the 20 makes the tint of those two windows look darker from the inside than the back because the standard windows already have some tint.

Also just FYI dealer quoted me $200-$250 whereas every tint shop has quoted $90-$100.

Depending on which tint you go with, 35 may not be an option. I only use 3M Crystalline and they have a 20 and 40. I always go with the 40 because 20 is illegal in my state. The 40 with the dark interior makes the tint look slightly darker. Light enough to see there's someone driving but dark enough so ppl can't tell who you are. At night, it's dark enough to barely see inside the cabin.

I think 35 makes for a good option, I've been using that % for awhile since that's the max we can do legally and I gave up risking tickets as I got older. I always use ceramic and do the windshield, if you get a lot of sun it's a no brainer for the front glass.

So I ended up getting all Llumar Pinnacle 25. The back windows measured at 19 actually and I think the 25 tint offered the best looking match for front and back.

To each their own and I understand the perspective of those who don’t want to deal with getting pulled over. I don’t either but from what I’m told the risk is low in Chicago.

I wound up doing the 3M Ceramic 30 on the windshield and two fronts. I usually opt for 35 all around but was told 3M offered 30 rather than 35. Looks just as good imo

I have 35 on the front and it's noticeably lighter than the rears, but I still think it looks better than no tint at all. I had the dealer do it prior to delivery of the car just for the added convenience, and they only charged $150 for it since it's only 2 windows.

I have 35% on my front windows and 20% on all the back glass, I also have 80% on the windshield along with just 2% on the top strip above the AS1 line.

I did a 18 on my front.... so it matches the back.... had it on my last 50i

i have done 35% all around including the windshield xpel ceramic, at night or shadow you only see a little inside, went the sun hit directly you clearly see the cabin.

For those who tinted the windshield, what was the impact on your Heads Up Display? Is your HUD still very clear?

I find that when I wear sunglasses, I can barely see the HUD. I love the HUD and use it all the time and don't want anything to negatively impact it.

High quality windshield tint has no impact to HUD image quality. Polarized sunglasses, however, certainly do.

I did Llumar CTX 50% on windshield, 15% on front windows, Air 80 on back and rear windows.

Thanks! I love the color, very dynamic. I'm usually not a fan of bright red cars, so this was the perfect combination of red/maroon/wine/purple.

3M film. Not ceramic. Just the regular 3M film line, not sure the exact name but it's an almost exact match to the factory tinted glass. Here is another shot that shows how well the tint matches.

How are some of you able to tint so dark esp the windshield? I thought it was illegal to tint anything but a strip of the windshield.

It's illegal, people just take their chances.
