11/11 – Genius update: scheduled to be built on 11/15 and finish production on 11/17

Just an FYI that credit fine print says not applicable to cars ordered before November 18th. If they promised that to you, they are likely breaking some rule to allow that to happen.

It is also not stackable with a Type J incentive in case you were planning to use that.

Also, if you know, who does BMWFS consider as a previous BMW owner? Is there a time frame since last time, said previous owner had a BMWFAS account?

It is the Domestic Military incentive. Just thought I would mention it since many folks have been going through PenFed to get it since being a member for 60 days is one way to qualify.

I think for loyalty you have to be a current owner. I did see something in the past that as long as you had a BMWFS account within the past year you also qualify but am not sure that is the case.

Finally my M50i VIN shows up in mdecoder.com and I do not see any deletions at all. Production date was 10 Nov (WK 45); VIN is K38.

Reporting back - after taking delivery of 45e with Touchscreen Deletion…

- Initially, saw “Deletion of Backup Assist” on the portal - thanks to the forum members here I learned = no touchscreen.
- Later confirmed 6UY through VIN decoder - and saw it on the sticker myself “Deletion of Touchscreen” -$500 (I was K27)
- Delivery was delayed by a day - the software update had to be applied a 3rd time because it failed halfway through the first couple of times - and they had various cars in line…

* I did NOT have to sign extra paperwork from BMW about the Touchscreen itself.

I think BMW NA is covered legally, but I think it’s still worth expressing our individual experiences to corporate, and I’m not above participating in a class-action if I get the opportunity to have the touchscreen installed.

Now, I’m still thrilled with the new car, so I think I’ll be able to see past this for the time being. iDrive is still the best in my view.

May I check who your dealer is? I have ordered through Park Lane and using my order number was able to track EDD week commencing 25th April 22!!!

How and when were you able to get a VIN??

Hi Drmsa,

I reached out to my sales guy (at Partridge BMW Southampton) on the 28th October due to the various deletions going on and he responded on the 29th October with my VIN.

Not sure if it was available earlier than that but he said it had just been given a chassis at that point so made it sound like that's why it had a VIN now.

With any luck, having an April delivery could mean you avoid the current deletions (if they affect the UK the same way they are affecting the US).

I was seriously considering the 45e but needed the 3rd row so it wasn't an option in the end. Hope you enjoy it!

Beautiful car! I pickup mine this afternoon. Did you receive any credit for the deletion of backup assist? Since this option is only available with the Parking Assistance Package, I think there should be an additional credit for it being removed.

Same thing here, my Alpine White decoded within 24 hours of production date of 11/11. My Phytonic Blue Metallic doesn't decode, other than color and both are at the dealer already.

My X5 is complete and it will be delivered to the dealer Sunday. The Genius said nothing was deleted. He said their systems are extremely accurate and the touchscreen is there as well as the trailer hitch.

ETA - confirmed with my dealership that there are no deletions! Wahooo! (Received production number 10/11)


I really think BMW got a bunch of touchless screens and installed them till they ran out - I think it’s easier for them to blame a shortage. They should 1000% retrofit the effected cars.
