All Terrain Tires on the X5

Sourced some 275/45/20 General AT3 all terrains tires from the US (not available in Canada) and will double as my winters but will leave them on for much of the year as this X5 will see some dirt! Surprised by how quite they are - need to get the BMW centre cap back on. Roof rack and ski box coming soon…Name: 23714139-E6E7-48A0-816C-4E41CBCA5FE3.jpeg

While I very much doubt my x5 will ever see the offroad, it’s great to see some x5 owners leverage that capability. When you take it off road, post pics!

Those look awesome. Do you have Air Suspension?

I wasn't able to get IAS on my M50i which I was bummed out but wasn't a deal breaker. It was a feature I used maybe a few times a year on my previous Jeep. It's nice to have on those mountain dirt roads though.

I am really loving my OEM AT package with those same tires as OP. Handle great in the snow and the look really grew on me quickly after initial hesitation.

I have the same set getting delivered next week. Can't wait to test them out in the cold weather and snow.

Would love to hear others feedback.

Moved from OE RFs to 19" ATs with full size spare - Is it really an SAV? Planning to

After months of searching for parts, watching YouTube videos and reading posts on forums, I finally pulled the trigger. I've taken the OE Bridgestone Alenza RFs off my 19" Style 734 wheels and put Falken Wildpeak AT Trails on my 2021 X5 45e. I also solved how to carry a spare by adding a hitched mounted spare tire carrier. That addition required finding a backup camera solution and figuring out how to best get power to the camera and taillight while maintaining as many assisted driving features as possible.

Here's what it looks like. I'm heading to the high deserts of New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona next month. We'll see how our SAV handles the off-road trails.

Off roading has more to do with tire choice than anything else. Then comes ground clearance and power to all fours. If your tires are up to it, you'll likely have some decent trail experience with the X5, as long as you don't get to crazy needing more ground clearance.

My X5 M50i isn't likely to see any off road use other than gravel fire roads, but the thought of having a set of wheels with Nitto Trail Grapplers mounted on them does have some appeal to me!

Couldn't agree more. I looked at the Nitto's but chose the Falkens for their on-road handling reviews, especially on both dry and wet roads. My off-road plans are certainly just gravel tracks and maybe some aired down beach adventures. Most fun part of getting ready was figuring how I wanted to carry that full size spare.
