Organizer for the back. $30 (also saw one at Costco). Keep first aid kit, towels, and a few other items organized in the back. Doesn't slide around and you can adjust the size of it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q4C8CNS...DMN9BR_0?psc=1 Center console organizer, $18. This gets you more usable space in your center console. |

I went all out on mods, spending huge bucks . .. these are about all I could afford after buying the car
First, I had the classic issue of my old chargers not working in the front 12v cig lighter charging sockets so I bought a couple of these instead of trying to make the socket work with the higher bolt head cause I wanted more powerful charging capability. They fit and work great and give me USB-A and USB-C ports and come with a C-C cable. These work in all three sockets. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Then I bought a bag of door panel snap in clips cause I knew I was going to be removing the door panels and inevitably would break a few...and I did and these work great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Finally, I needed something to put grocery bags and other things in, in the cargo area so bought this collapsable carrier. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1 Once I learned my X5 didn't have an accessible hard drive, I bought a couple SanDisk memory sticks to put my music on, they fit well in the USB-A port near the cup holders and are super small so you can just leave it plugged in and close the storage sliding cover. Beware though, the plastic side walls of this model are paper thin and if you plan to be plugging, removing, plugging, removing, etc a number of times, you will probably break the side walls, pretty much rendering this model useless. I plugged mine in and have not touched it, works great and plenty fast. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1 I know there is a way to separate the pix so they fit under their respective text but I seem to have forgotten how so they are all mixed together - ugh . |

Oops, I forgot a few, here they are.. ..
I wanted a rubber/silicon license plate frame/holder and chose these, they work well, I don't get cut when washing the car, they have water weep holes at the bottom and will not support rust. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also wanted a windshield sunshade and thought I would try one that was recommended by someone on this forum. So far so good, this is the best/tightest fitting sunshade I have ever owned. its the Heatshield brand for $50. Custom fit, works great. https://www.heatshieldstore.com/car-...021-bmw-x5-suv Then I wanted the ability to code certain features, on/off/different so I bought Bimmercode and the Ethernet hardware since a hard wired connection is the most reliable and fastest. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://bimmercode.app |

Good thread with lots of useful feedback. As others have mentioned, a bootliner is a must for me as I have a dog that sheds a lot - I have the OEM BMW one and I think it looks good too.
As my car also came without wireless charging I put my own tray into that location and cabled it from the USB-A port next to it (pic attached). I always use Apple Carplay which tends to run the phone battery down so it is really convenient to put my phone on here when I get into the car. Worst case I break even battery wise and maintain my charge level but I will usually add a bit extra too (if my phone is very low I have a USB-C to lightning in the console space under the armrest for faster charging - or for passenger). In terms of a modification I recently went for the Maxton front splitter. I really like the look of it and it was a lot cheaper than many alternatives (pic also attached). |

Here's another inexpensive add-on…. If you live in an area where you have EZ-Pass or similar toll roads, and you have to get the ugly white transponder, you can put this black skin on the transponder, and make it almost invisible from the outside. I have Sapphire Black Metallic paint, and the white transponder really stood out. This cover cured the problem.
EZ Skin Bundle: Silicone Skin for EZ Pass + Silicone Pad to Cover The Back + Black Interlocking Strips + Alcohol Prep Pad = Discreet Look Inside & Outside Your Car! (Fits EZ Pass Mini/iPass). Got it on Amazon |

Picked up our X5 45e on Monday. So far our relatively low budget high value mods are: 1. Tinted front windows to match the rear 2. Blend mount for Unison radar detector (radar detector has saved me multiple times and the Blend mount looks so much better than suction cups) 3. Wireless charge (I found one on Amazon that is easy to conceal the wires) https://a.co/d/cuFEopB In the upcoming weeks I will likely tint the front reflectors similar to what I did for our F15 M-Sport 35i and add some other mods mentioned above. We now have two X5s |

For those with OE roof rails: you might find very useful Yakima Universal Mighty Mounts. I got them initially to create reliable tie-down points when delivering lumber from Home Depot, but these things are very versatile and can serve many purposes. They allow to attach any or almost any Yakima accessories on OE roof rails. ~$60 investment worth quite a bit.
