Hey fellas,
As quite a few of you seem to have received the OTA update, I was wondering if you could share how the car feels like after the update? As in, do the updates mentioned here have any significant impact on how your car drives? Thanks,

No differences for me. Previously I would notice at least some tiny textual changes in the menu or some glitch addressed, this time nothing at all.

When driving in cruse mode-1, when overtaking a slower vehicle, and using the turn indicator to change lanes, it is definitely a smoother transition, at least in my case. I do a lot of interstate driving.
As far as the upgrade, I have 2-2020 X5's and when the updates became available on my app, I upgraded my X5 first using the app and re-coded. Before I had time to upgrade my wife's X5, the OTA had already sent the upgrade to her car, so all I had to do was the install procedures without the use of the app and then re-code. My phone was never paired to her X5 for the upgrade. No issues what's so ever. |

The Lane Change Assistant is part of the Driving Assistance Professional package. The function is available when using cruise mode 2 (cruise with steering/lane control, Assisted Driving) and driving on a qualifying road/highway. In general it must be marked as divided in the navigation system.

If you fully push the turn signal, that'll cancel the lane keep. An arrow will show in the HUD to indicate that it's attempting lane change. It'll move over to the other lane when there's space available. If there's another car by your side, it'll wait for there to be space. It has a minimum speed of ~40-45 mph and the car has to detect the adjacent lane - usually it does, but sometimes it can't detect the adjacent lane during the day on an empty road, especially if road markings are faded. It works very well at night. In the day, having other cars near you helps it a lot - the radar signature of the other cars can compensate for faded road markings. On the instrument cluster, if the adjacent lane is detected, there will be a solid gray strip next to your car's lane. Otherwise it's just black. (Hard to explain but you'll see it if you drive on a 2 lane highway or on the inner/outer lane of a wider highway) |

My car today got the notice that 07/2022.58 is available for download to my phone. I downloaded it to my phone no problem.
But I'm not sure I want to try to transfer it into my car at home. I will be near my dealer tomorrow. I think I'll park on their lot any then try to download it to my car. That way if it has a problem, the car is already at the dealer. Question is, how long does it take for the download to transfer from the phone to the car? Anyone know? |

Once it is downloaded to your phone, you'll need to drive the X5 for about 15-20 minutes, depending on your phone speed. It will not download from your phone to the vehicle just setting in a lot. You will see the progression on your phone and also on your iDrive as you motor along. Once downloaded then the car needs to set for about 15-20 minutes for the install to complete. Make sure all the boxes are checked so the install will start as soon as you depart the vehicle.
There is a very small percentage of folks having issues, many are self inflicted. The majority of these OTA's go without a hitch. You will get the update either way, with or without your phone app. BMW knows not everyone uses the app. |

No, the last screen will give you all the parameters needed for the update to proceed. I can't recall all, but things like key in car, parking brake set, interior lights off, ect, items of that nature. All boxes must be checked or the upgrade will not proceed. As I recall, someone on YouTube has a video of that screen. But no worries, it is pretty self explanatory.

Vehicle battery must be above 70% (take a long drive or use a battery tenderizer) Car key fob must be inside vehicle (only to start install, then can leave vehicle) Shift lever must be in Park (which I always do anyways) EPB (Electronic parking brake) must be applied (seems to be default/automatic in my X5) No device connected to OBD socket, such as insurance tracking devices or coding adapters Exterior lighting must be off (seems to be default/automatic in my X5) Hazard warning lights must be off Vehicle parked on level ground

So from what I am seeing on my phone and in the car, after I start my car and make sure my phone is connected via Bluetooth and wifi, the download will begin while driving? And then should install after I turn engine off and leave car for at least 20 min.

Yes, just follow the messages on the app and iDrive. Also the app has an installation video built in for reference, same one that is on YouTube.
