2022 45e ECU Tune deep dive detection
Hi,
I'm sure this subject's been covered a thousand time so apologies in advance but for me it's important. Has anyone has a 45e ECU tune, either by remap or by tuning box? How does it perfume after? I had a 2021 X3 M40i with a remap to 450bhp, it was amazing. We had it removed prior to sale & BMW called to say they'd detected a previous tune & so the warranty was void. It'd been in for 2x services & some warranty work, both times the tune had first been removed. BMW said they now do a deep dive & can find anything? I'd really like to have my 45e (when it arrives) tuned but am nervous.. Any feedback would be much appreciated. |

X5 45e chiptuning https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1684493
interesting your M40i warranty was void after tuning yet still want to do it on your 45e. I feel bad for whoever purchases your vehicles after you're done with them. it's this lack of open disclosure that prevents me from ever buying used. |

the 45e has another element with significant warranty implications, its HV battery. U.S. model's usable capacity is lower than EU so a few have modified theirs to EU capacity. initially, they said BMW can't see it, but I proved one way they can: obtaining the vehicle's telematics report. whether this constitutes their "deep dive" regarding the HV battery, I'm unsure. that being said, it costs ~$22k to replace (I know of two folks going through this now), so it's something else to consider whether for yourself or whoever takes ownership after you.

Absolutely true for a full ECM flash that yields profound levels of power increases.
It is debateable with a piggy back that makes no chages to any of the targets in the ECM and especially one that is only adding 3 lbs or so. The service detectives will really be splitting hairs as overboost situations occur without any external intervention. |

Good question indeed.
I would not bother on a 40i and absolutely not on a 45e with all its relatively new tech and layers of complication etc. V8s see very nice gains with piggy back devices like RaceChip, JB4, and a few others. I've seen dragy results with RaceChip on an M50i at 3.5 seconds 0-60 which is smokin fast for a 5,200 lb. SUV. |

^^^^Pretty sure that the low 11 estimate and the 3.24 0-60 Draggy is for an X5MC that was posted in the X5M/X6M section of this forum not so long ago.
These are all crazy #s for vehicles of this weight, amazing. |

I use a box from the German manufacturer Speedbuster in my X45e. Similar in principle to RaceChip, but has more input channels. The car was measured before/after and brought around +80hp / 120Nm. But the original was already clearly upwards...measured around 440hp. It seems that the 45e has about the same power as the 40i and not 286 PS as declared. After tuning has now 523 hp/746Nm. No problems so far, but I've only driven 15,000km.

Hi kfer. Would U bo so kind and let me know your experience with Speedbuster box? Any issues so far? Does it accelerate smoothly as stock? Does gearbox work well with no jerks? Any recommendations on how to install it? Which setting do you find the optimal. Thanks im advance. I just ordered one for my 22 45e |

I would suggest the app. to order, then you can easily change the levels. Level 6 (sport) is the default setting and in my experience you get the best performance at level 8 (but it depends on the car). It was measured at level 8 with RON95. Maybe with RON100 you can also go higher. According to the manufacturer, one level means approx. 2% performance : 0-200km/h is 16.97sec on slope 0.81% (corrected to 0% slope 16.19sec) |

Thank you. Did you dyno it right after you installed the box? I was told to do around 400 km with the box before dyno check as the gearbox needs time for adjustment.
And how about pushing hard on summer on hot conditions, no check engine signs? |

I really haven't had any problems (neither thermal nor otherwise). The dyno run was 1 week later, but I don’t think there would be a difference.
But if you're afraid of the box, you'd better let the DME unlock it and go for a flash. I did it on my Z4 for a turbo upgrade and it was all super quick and easy (I sent to Femto on Tuesday afternoon and it was back in the car on Friday). But to be honest I wouldn't do it for a stage 1/2 with OTS as the difference between box and MHD OTS RON98 map isn't that much . MHD is stronger on top but has a bit less torque on bottom. ( Certainly looks better with a custom tune or turbo upgrade. ) |

88HP (20.65%) in power and 128Nm (22.38%) in torque - mine was 81HP and 130Nm. The good news, that the box seems to work and delivers a lot of power :-) Have you tried Map6/8 on the street? For me, the performance on the dyno and during the road measurement was a bit different. Dyno : 442.8hp@5745rpm and 592Nm@2775rpm Street : 442.4hp@5742rpm and 616Nm@3452rpm . So the power was the same at the same rpm, but max torque was 700rpm earlier on the dyno. |
