I'm not positive, but I don't think the 2019 has the mild hybrid battery and tech, but if it does, two things:
- the 48vdc battery doesn't get charged unless the hood is kept open - that battery won't charge unless 20A or greater is applied But, if the 12vdc battery gets fully charged, it only offers you the option to apply the update AFTER you meet all of the conditions AND after you have run the vehicle, the, the menu will pop up as you shut down offering you the option to apply the update if ALL other conditions are met. IOW, just charging it won't trigger the update process...it happens after you've run it as part of the shutdown process. |

You are correct, the 2019's do not have the mild-hybrid system.

Hi everyone, any down side for not having the car up to date (software)?
Honestly, I’m pretty happy with the ver. I’m at right now. Previously I had the drive mode changing automatically and the update was able to fix the issue. Currently at 07/2021.85.

I was stuck at 07/2022 after having downloaded 11/2022 without successful installation — for several months. However, I just had my vehicle serviced at the dealership and asked them to manually install — it was successful and actually jumped to the even newer version 03/2023. No problems at all aside from having to reenable the remote start agreement.

It may somewhat depend on what options you have in your X5, and how often you use them. It seems that at least some of the tweaks are to the adaptive cruise control about how well it holds your lane, makes a lane change, and reacts to changes in traffic. There are likely lots of other minor tweaks. So, you may or may not find updates useful.

I understand completely. I used to always get my dealer to install the latest version but figured now that nothing new is being offered I would just stick where I am. I had my oil changed in the M340i yesterday and didn't even bother to ask them to upgrade. If I would happen to get an OTA I would probably end up doing it.

I noticed something interesting came up few days ago.
The assist plus mode, which was supposed to be used under 40mph, now I can do 110 mph without been limited. I'm still on my old version from 07.2020, I don't think this is supposed to happen? What's the speed limit on newer assist plus? is it still 40mph? wondering how mine jumped from 40 to 110

You want a battery tender/charger that understands AGM batteries. Also note that if you have a 40i with the mild hybrid system, the 48vdc battery also needs to be charged, and that won't happen unless two things are true:
- >20A charge capability - the hood is opened, otherwise, the 48vdc is isolated, and won't charge while off. It's not uncommon for your 12vdc battery to be only about 70% charged...it only charges when it's below that value, or when you are coasting or decelerating. |

Sure, any decent maintainer should be fine. The CTEK is available from Amazon at a good price.

Yesterday I got a Remote Software Upgrade notice on the screen in the car. It says I'm on 07/2022.59 and an upgrade to 11/2022.60 is available. "This can be loaded onto your mobile device via the My BMW app and transferred to your vehicle while driving" I can't find anyway for the car to download the update directly.
In the MY BMW app it says "no software upgrade available" It also says my car is running 03/2021.50 which is not what the car says. Does anyone know how to get the My BMW app to download the update? |

Log out of the app, and check to see if you have the latest version, and upgrade the app in the app store. When you re-login, it will likely show up. The app was updated about 3-weeks ago, and they also appear to have changed the login password requirements.

Just deleted the app. Reinstalled it and registered my X5. Immediately received a message saying update 11/2022.60 is ready to be installed. Haha. I'll believe it when it happens. Vehicle is parked, locked and on a battery maintainer.

Yeah, I'm in the same state...my Bosch maintainer when I attached it showed about 3/4 full battery, so might have been enough. I'll try to do the update tomorrow after it has sat all night, when it should have then peaked the battery. I have the s/w on my phone and it said it was about 460Mb, so shouldn't take all that long to upload to the vehicle. I'd looked yesterday, and there were no notifications, but when I drove it today, it showed up on both the Vehicle and in the app.
