BMW decided all X5M owners will be doing laps around the Nurburgring so they made the suspension suited for that instead of what people actually use it for.

lol. That’s a good one.
I, for one, am ok with it as it eliminates the need for air bag replacement. They are not if, but when.

That is such a great point!
4 months into my ownership experience, I can say that the suspension on the X5M could be better. Frankly, it's a bit disappointing...
The car never feels planted, always trying to find its place on the road. Feels nervous and twitchy.
Replacing springs with KW HAS and hoping this will help.

I did 2 sets KW HAS on X5M pre-LCI and LCI, and able to drive the LCI around the block while doing datalogging for RaceChip.
One thing that I can say, it is too soft and car behaves where I don't feel comfortable driving it like an M car should be driven.
The only positive thing I can say about KW HAS is it lowers a little more than MSS.

I am looking forward to hear your feedback though.

While to respond to OP's topic,
The F85/F86 uses the same air bag suspension as E70/E71 where it fails a lot and it can't keep up the suspension transition and modulation fast enough.
The only car manufacturer that able to master the air suspension system on their sport SUV/SAV is Porsche and Audi.
BMW so far haven't master the air suspension yet and I am happy that BMW is reverting back to coil spring. It perform way better.

I'm very new to x5m ownership but my experience has been the opposite so far. The vehicle always feels planted and in command, while handling far better than a vehicle of this size and weight should.

That said, I'm coming to an x5m from an nd2 Miata, which likely colors my context for a squirrelly car. It also means the suspension feels just about right to me, because the Miata is equally stiff and unforgiving!
