tune x5 m60i

I just ordered an X5 M60i and was watching some YouTube videos on it. One guy was saying that you can tune the x5 m60i to get the same hp as the x5 competition. Does any know about this?

You can install piggyback module such as JB4 and Racechip to easily increase HP on M60i.
I do not believe there is any software based tune for M60i.

From what I understand, the M60i really needs a catback exhaust ?

ECM flashing is available but requires "unlocking" the ECM/DME which is a real PIA.

WAS a PIA. Now mission performance has a dongle that allows you to do this in the comfort of your own home and then flash tune as desired. Highly recommend.

I thought it was also, will check that out. If this can be done like the Cobb and M engineering tunes we have used I'm all over it. Otherwise will go with JB4 which puts up some nice numbers vs baseline for the M60i with 93 octane.
These are Dynojet wheel numbers. Actual engine #s will be be at least 15% more. Big balls here for sure.

I thought flash without physically send the ÉCU in is only available to cars with ecu built before 2021. All bmw after 2021 had DME lock which require physical removal and recoding as of now

I'm going with the JB4 at around 3K miles and staying with that until and if an unlock at home tune becomes available.

Yep as the locked ECU/DMEs rolled out in June of 2020. I'm lucky as my 2020 M850i is a 10/19 build date. That said as mentioned earlier in the thread there are a few tuners that have unlocked the N63 and S63 (info from the 8-series forum) but it requires physically shipping them, dropping the car off if feasible due to one's locale, etc. So a total PIA as mentioned and then zero OTAs or a dealer upgrade due to a service bulletin or your back to square one and have to go through the entire process again.

The unintended consequences of all above mentioned mods is warranty issues. Read the fine print if your new car warranty in important to you.

Not sure it would be out any time soon... it's been over 2 years and no major breakthru yet.

True and why I am going with the JB4 in the near future. The ECM flash tunes are preferable but not with the huge hastle of "unlocking" that is currently needed to go that route.
