Yeah, we are under the 300k cap.
I need/want the climate package with living in Colorado. So that combined with DAPP and a trailer hitch (which is a non-negotiable for me) brings me 550 over - even with alpine white, which I don't love.

I think I've decided to wait anyway. Interest rates are dumb right now. Even with only planning to finance 20k or so, I'm not throwing money away on a 6.3% rate.
Plus there will be more PHEV competition for the X5 next year.

Thanks for all the help, everyone.

In my opinion the 150K/300K income cap works against promoting energy efficient vehicles. Generally speaking the cap discourages people who can easily afford such vehicles from going this route (vs a more luxurious ICE) because they have to pay 7500 more than others who qualify.

I think it’s the 80k cap more than the salary cap. But we don’t make more than 300k yet so I am biased.

Given the average income of BMW buyers, the 150k/300k cap likely has little effect on whether folks will buy them or not. The mean household income of BMW owners was under 125k a few years ago and 7 Series owners was only in the 185k region. Granted those are averages but keep in mind that many buyers are older folks with little income but a lot of assets.

I agree with this. I am under the cap and while I did pick options that allowed me to take the credit, if the choice was not getting the vehicle & options I wanted versus taking the credit, I would grumble but pay the price anyway.

Also keep in mind that there is a material number of drivers who couldn't even afford to drive their choice if they couldn't lease. I suspect the majority are well under the cap.

While I don't *like* the cap, I do see the political reasons for it and doubt that it makes a large difference in the effected population's final choices.

.

Do you really think interest rates will ever be much lower than they are now?

I feel like they’re only going to go up as time goes on, but if you think differently, I’d love to hear about it!

Thanks!

It's a must have, really reduces the pain of stop and go traffic and also longer highway cruising. I have it on both of mine

I suppose it would depend on disposable income that people earning between 125k - 185k have? similarly the older folks would have lower income but have much higher wealth, that generates decent passive, disposable income….

Perhaps my mindset is different so I would not lease unless I could write off lease as business expense.

Interesting insight nevertheless.

Ever? Yes. In the next two years? Probably not. FWIW the corporate bond market (and CDs) are priced as if interest rates are not going down anytime soon. Even when/if there is a recession.

70's stagflation is popping up saying "Hey guys! Remember me?"

PS - this is not a situation that I would have bet on 6 months ago. I would have put a good $0.50 down that interest rates would be dropping by year end.

I don't know all of the BMW lingo just yet and I might be late to the party here, but the x5 m60i we picked up in August has the driver assistance pro package. So it does both the traffic jam assist and highway driving stuff. Didn't think we would enjoy it, but honestly it has worked incredibly well and I use it every time I'm on the highway. Took a few times driving to get the hang of it, but for longer trips it is going to be a lifesaver (literally and figuratively)! Since I've never had anything like it before I keep my feet right near the brake pedal and a finger on the wheel most of the time.

Same experience for me--I didn't really care about the option--now I'd insist on it.

I find it kind of strange that the DAP car distance adjustment is buried quite deep into the iDrive menu and you have to do this while driving.

Is anyone who is using DAP regularly miss having some + - buttons to adjust this while driving?

Has anyone figured out the voice command(s) to make this adjustment while driving?

I would imagine most people don't even notice that the distance buttons are gone since the distance is rarely changed. The distance can be increased/decreased by using voice from what people have reported. Not sure if someone posted that exact wording though but hopefully someone does.

IME, the follow distance is spot on and does a great job of accounting for speed and braking distance. I've never felt the need to adjust it. First adaptive cruise I've used that didn't follow too far or too close by default.

Yes, i totally agree. I've never had to worry about adjusting the distance. I think after extensive testing of the updated system they realized the distance buttons on the steering wheel were redundant for LCI.

For the record, I took delivery of my ‘24 X5 xDrive40i along with the Drivers Assistance Plus package. I will say I’m overly impressed with the feature. It made a couple road trips and several miles on the highway very easy and comfortable. A slight learning curve along with getting comfortable letting my BMW take control, but I’m overall happy with my decision to spring for this option.
