I agree with most of the folks on the thread . I use it allmost everyday. Once you get the hang of it it's pretty usefull

I ended up upgrading from 22 x3 to x5 since dap was unavailable for the x3

The Germans are still milking money by making dap into a standalone package while a $20k toyota has most of the adaptive stuff standard

High time they made atleast the adaptive cruise a standard feature

I have a recent experience with a 2022 Camry. I would say Toyota's system is the worst of what I have used, down right dangerous level. The issue really is how Toyota decide when to disengage its ACC. As the car in front slow down, Toyota will slow down to somewhere between 25-30 MPH, one small beep, then ACC disengage. It will no long apply brake, just let the car coast forward. So you better get ready to hit the brake yourself. It is one of the unusable system out there in 2022. Lane keeping is also a joke, much worst then Nissan/Infiniti and Subaru's capability. Very disappointed

At this point, the price maybe agree upon in a sense of MSRP +/- whatever you can get. Then when allocation comes, deal will call you and confirm spec one more time. Maybe add/subtract a few options if needed, then it is when the build is officially submitted to the factory. Dealer may ask for a deposite at this time too. Then the tracking starts.
I get all that. What I'm having trouble understanding how someone does that specifying that they want a 2023 model in May/June of 2022? And how anyone would know what options are or are not available on that future model car?

If I go in to the build site now I can select DAP.

That is normal, the website has not been updated for the new model year yet. That historically happens a month or so into the new model year. They keep the previous year out there in order to help dealers move the inventory. Given there is none this year they may update it earlier.

Non-forum members need to go to the dealer to get the information for the new model year vehicles. We are lucky since we can look at the pricing guide and do all the configuration at home.

So I'm just trying to understand this - you can go in to the dealer and tell them you'd like to purchase next year's model and at some point (like now) the dealer will know things about the possible configurations and options that are not on the BMWUSA web site or in the public. Is that correct?

I'm still trying to understand how the OP got the information from the dealer that DAP was not going to be available until December? And if true, that's a REALLY major thing missing and is it missing from all models of BMWs until December?

It is public. We had that information a week or more before the OP posted. It is listed in the pricing guide. It is gone from many other models with no expected date of return.

To my understanding, the dealer can put you in a queue for an MY23 car today, and then give you an allocation at that future point. What they can't know today is what options may not be available at the time of your order going into production (just like they can't know that today). I'm in an active conversation with my client advisor about all of this, since my spot on the waiting list means I'm unlikely to get a 2022, and I need the trailer hitch which doesn't look like it will be available anyways.

This is my first BMW so I know that I do not fully understand the ordering process. That said, I think all of these conversations about 'how the process works' are not entirely up-to-date with the times given supply chain considerations. (Understanding that BMW is saying that DAP won't be available to order until December 2022; my point is about feature availability in general during these crazy times.)

Yes, that’s exactly what I get, although I can see nothing from the side that would merit it.

My build model year has been bumped up to 2023. I was promised 2022 until few days ago. Surprisingly, my CA confirmed that my 2023 build has DAPP included. How is that possible ?

In the past there have been instances of an option/feature being in a build prior to the SOP, hopefully it happened to you.

Next to the electric option on my 45e, the DAP is my favorite feature. I use at least some of its capabilities every day.

Please keep us posted if they will build it with DAPP. The production for 2023 starts in August...so are they delaying your order until then?

I would not buy the car without it, I use it every single time I take the car, and on long road trip I can drive 12 hours in one day no problem, without it I would never feel alert part 6 hours... I have never been able to do road trip before I purchase this car with the drive asssitance plus. the lane keep assist and dynamic cruise control is GAME CHANGER !!!

One of the biggest advantages you get with the package is the advantage of having the sensor suite that comes with it. For example, if you are driving in EcoPro, and you are coasting, once another vehicle is detected in front of your efficient dynamics will kick in to charge the battery and provide a bit of engine braking. When you're sitting at a light and your ASS has stopped your engine, as soon as the car in front moves, it detects it and fires the engine, so it is ready to go. It's cool little features like that beyond the reach of the core functionality that really make the vehicle shine and feel "smart".
