C/D test on 24 BMW X5
Car and driver has published review for BMW X5 2024 for M60i and 50e. It hadn't published anything for 40i yet.

M60i is the overall winner amongst performance SUVs. I set out to order a Cayenne S but just couldn’t find $20k more car in the similarly equipped Porsche.

I kid, but that's the thing with the Porsches, they don't make sense. You buy the Porsche because you want the damn Porsche for some inexplicable reason. And OF COURSE you're gonna option the $7500 body color painted carbon fiber badges. |

Interesting that the C&D X5 M60i didn’t have the M professional suspension with the active role bars. The 0-60mph speed is impressive, as recently a 4 series 440 thought he could out gun the M60i at a traffic light. Wonder what the X5M comp 0-60 time is? BMW should allow the M sport seats (such as for the UK and EU markets) to be ordered when the M professional suspension is ordered, as you need the extra side and shoulder support when hitting turns hard.

I’m aware of the sub 3.5 for the X5MC, but is it closer to 3.0 or 3.5.

It's hard to replicate the C&D numbers; they're typically the lowest you'll find anywhere and most don't get them. Your average YouTuber is doing around 3.5 or a little higher with the M and 4, 4.1, or a little more with the 60.
Not talking about Goldilocks runs, what average people get when they mash the pedal and see what happens. |

It's that way with all their times, they are almost invariably the lowest you'll see from a major outlet and in the real world few people are going to match them.
Don't take my word for it, try scaning YouTuber videos where they get actual manufacturer test cars, most will measure a 0-60 with results that will match what I just wrote. You'll see the random outlier, both faster and slower, but most will hit where I described and be well above the C&D numbers. |

Perhaps they do their 0-60 times going down a mountain, all I have seen in UK show M60i at 4.1 and 50E at 4.7.

It's also within the realm of possibility that BMW sent them an "extra good" one. Wouldn't be the first time that BMW (or several other automakers) has sent out press cars that inexplicably are way faster than any production car, and when Dyno tested are making sizeable amounts of power more than production ones.
"Pre production software" and all that. |

What's interesting is the M60 is a full second faster to 100, but then only traps 3mph higher. Very odd, there's clearly a LOT more power in the M60i top end, and I'm sure it would obliterate a 50e in a 40 roll type race, but still it's rather odd the way the numbers worked out. |

Off-topic, but I've pretty much stopped reading C&D, after they added interstitial pages/workflow to "detect bots" (really, probably, I suspect, to make their site obnoxious for people who have ad blockers installed). The linked pages, for example, seem impossible to scroll down on after loading (in addition to the obnoxious interstitials).
They clearly do not want people to consume their content, and I am obliging.

It unfortunately because a publication that only liked small cars for big cities that I had no interest in, and so their opinions had no value to me. Ultimately, they lost credibility, the only thing they do worthwhile now is Lightning Lap, and frankly, there's YouTubers that do reviews better than C&D. |
