From M5/F90 to X5M/F95 - Tame My Urge!
Back in May I transferred out of a 2020 M5 lease into a 2022 X5M...there were many reasons, few of which were needing a higher vehicle in a regularly flooded part of Florida and, somewhat of a boredom with the design of the M5...
Interestingly, I found the X5M more aggressive looking and also more fun to drive in the city. The combination of the heavy weight and a higher vehicle makes it just a bit more playful than the no limit point on shoot M5 shotgun... 6 months into it and I couldn't help but start looking at M5's again, wondering if I had made a mistake... Today, I happened to have parked my X5M next to an F90/M5 and the same emotions that prompted the switch came back as I found the design of the M5 more tame, and dare I say, maybe a bit outdated? Please help me stick to the X5M! Last edited by S2000M5; 03-12-2024 at 04:59 PM.. |

I had a Blue X3 a couple years ago, Made made me crazy to walk out of the grocery store only to see a sea of blue SUV's. |

Visually i think both the M5 and X5M are one of the best looking BMW's out today. Both look exceptional with some tasteful mods and a drop.
Seeing an X5M is more rare and it does the whole family thing a lot better. Also pre LCI or LCI styles still looks current where as the all new M5 is around the corner making the current one look really outdated. I've see the new 5 series on the road and it def. looks way more modern.

^That is so true, I rarely see one around Northern Virginia. I have also attended a few local Cars and Coffee events and find myself being the only one there with an X5MC...which brings me many smiles...

I hear ya! I pretty much stopped mod'ing and became a bone stock guy since my F80/M3...its a worry free none rabbit hole mindset but it tends to navigate towards Autotrader more often...

as someone who just went through the m5c -> x5 mc switcharoo, let me tell you that once the genie's out of the bottle it's not going back. if you want another car, you're gonna want another car.

I am also noticing how rare the X5M is.
I've seen more M5's and RSQ8's that I have X5M's. I thought the RSQ8 was the rarer vehicle of the two but I'm beginning to see more of those on the road.

I don’t know what it is but the X5M is so much fun to drive at any speed. At low speeds you’ve got a tidal wave of torque, decent ride quality, and lovely darty steering (admittedly a little numb). At moderate speed it’s so responsive and agile…and at high speed it’s effortless fun.
Though I have other fun cars I keep coming back to the X5M. I’m sure part of it is novelty…but part of it is genuine enchantment. X |

I think my X5M is such an 'event' to drive so even boring errands becomes fun. The best is doing tunnel runs and with my exhaust combo (Akra with dinan mid) it straight up sounds like an exotic supercar when i get on it. The look on peoples faces seeing its coming from an 'X5' is priceless lol
My wife always asks me why I don't just rent car for long road trips so I don't put on any additional wear and tear on the car but the X5M just makes hours long road trip fun and engaging. The only cons to this is that you do have more fatigue when i arrive from being 'on it' for so long compared to a boring A to B car.

Didn’t all of our LCI X5M’s come with Michelins? (We have 2 and both came with Michelins)
