Wheel size ques. from confused middle aged rookie
Good Evening,
I have a 2019 X5 40i. I want to upgrade to 20” tires and wheels (not staggered) from my 19” stock setup at the moment. I have the tires ready to go on Tirerack, all four are the same size, but when it comes to the wheels, it has them divided up; I am being told I need 20x9 for the front with +35mm offset and and 20x10.5 for the rear with +38mm offset. Why can’t I just get 20x9 with +35mm offset for all four wheels? Are the wheels really different for the front and the rear? Or is this for staggered setups only? I see wheels on other websites that “fit” my X5, but because of what I saw on Tirerack, I am confused about what to purchase now. Any help would be appreciated as I scroll through all the other threads trying to hone in on an answer. |

[Update] I found the following on Bimmerpost: “For staggered Euro spec - front 275/45/20 and rear 305/40/20, the wheels are front 9.5 and rear 10.5.”
—- So I am assuming this means it is indeed for a staggered setup, and I can just keep the same size 275/45/20 tires all around, with same size 20x9 wheels all around as well? |

I actually downgraded from 21” staggered to 20” squared about a month into ownership. yes, you can go same 20x9ET35 all around. check tiresize.com to see how the wheel sizes and offsets of the new wheels compare to your old ones (or any other setup).
mine are 20x9ET27 all around which brought out the front wheels 10mm wider stance, but I did add 18mm wheel spacers to the rear which brought them out 14mm wider stance. |
