That is correct, they changed it a couple of years ago presumably due to the peeling issues.

Good call on BMW’s side and it might make sense

Firstly, the it is hardly visible that the silvery bit is not black even as is. And secondly, I’d expect the whole thing to get dirty/dark from soot and other dirt depositing there

I thought the same at first too! Was about to ask which solution and foam cannon they were using.

Pulled the exhaust fuse and went for a rip along some country roads. DHP in Sport mode is truly Something else. The car drives and handles like 1/3 the size.

There are a bunch available on Amazon. I bought this 3 pack a couple years ago.

Yes… Amazon ftw, just as chicagofan00 mentioned. The “Fire missle” looks especially good with the illuminated ring on our X5’s. I’ve gotten a lot of laughs and comments from people that have ridden with me.

Finally got this done today. Wasn't sure where exactly the correct option was, but found it in the body control one. It showed a parking light malfunction warning after coding, but per the guide they say errors are normal and go away. Took it for a ride around the block and it indeed went away. Checked it on my wife's key, and the setting went through correctly on that also, so no more ASS.

.. .. but, you don't have the LCI, right? Why not just disable ASS altogether and then you can have any driving mode you want.

My understanding was ASS specific coding is actually disabled on the MY22's and can't be coded. We also no longer have an ASS button in MY22 which was taken away also, so you have to code Sport Individual to disable it.

I could be mistaken, though? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've only had single digit minutes worth of free time per day the past two months, so it's entirely possible I might not have things completely straight. But I wanted Sport steering by default anyways, as the Comfort is way too light. Very much prefer the Sport steering setting except on long highway trips.

Ordered a set of these. Thanks!

Going to sneak the "Fire Missile" in it without telling my wife, and see how long it takes her to notice.

You can code ASS off on the pre LCI's, including your '23 which is the last model year that you can do so.

The pre-LCI's can only have ASS coded off if they are running a version of iD7 less than 03/2023. Starting with that version the ability to code ASS off was removed.

Ugh, not sure how I could have forgotten about that cause that's why I refuse to upgrade my s/w .. .. D'oh! Thanks for the reminder. However, back a bit ago there was discussion about a few who had upgraded to 03/2023 and I seem to recall one or two saying they still had the ability to turn ASS off. Do you recall that or?

None the less, if I were coding, I'd look for it, its either there as an option or not.

We had tow folks reporting that, I think one from the UK and the other from somewhere in Europe. No one from the US has been able to code it off or use remember last state. Not sure if it is region specific or the two reports were mistaken.

I saw the specific ASS coding option. If it can't be coded, then it wouldn't even show up in the coding options in the app? Is that how it works?

If that's the case then I guess I could have coded ASS only, but we both like the Sport steering as a default anyways, so had my mind set on just setting Sport Individual anyways. My wife has been daily driving the E93 for the past 5 years, and likes the increased heft of the steering in the Sport setting.

What software level are you running? If 03/2023 or later and you think you saw the ability to code ASS off can you try to do that and let us know if you are successful? Even if you are successful you can still code your favorite default start up driving mode.

I think you guys are confusing things. Seeing the option to code off ASS has nothing to do with having it work. It shows in every tool used (BimmerCode, ProTools, ESys, etc.) but nothing happens when the coding is done. BMW changed internals that so far no one has been able to figure out a way around.

Ok so you're saying that even if the system won't allow you to code if off, BimmerCode or etc will still show the setting? Didn't know that, I've not been in BimmerCode for over a year now since I pretty much set things the way I like them. Well, that would sure make it frustrating, wouldn't it?

Yes because the parameters that are used in the coding are still in the system. They are coded as normal but are being ignored and ASS is still enabled.

We have been saying it can't be coded in the sense that the coding is ignored. The "physical" coding can be done, it just doesn't result in anything.
