If we look at this as a car/SUV, then yes, 450K is mildly insane.
IMHO Ferrari is positioning it as a work of automotive art; that's why it is priced in the stratosphere |

When I get the loot in-order to drop on that work of art; then I shall acquire said treasure; until then, I’ll have to simply enjoy the all around awesomeness (and affordable) X5M 🤣👍🏽

I cross shopped the X5M against the Urus and I thought that was over the top pricing for what’s essentially a VW. I’m a GM fan and they share platforms, but I wasn’t in for that sort of thing if it’s $100k plus, but that’s just me.
That Ferrari tho, wow, it’s gorgeous. We might of tried to sell some organs and get that if it was available when fancy SUV shopping….but not for that price. That’s for the top 1%.

I've also cross shopped the X6M with the Urus, and not only do they performance essentially the same in every comparison I've seen on YouTube, but the cheap plastic materials in the interior of the Urus when compared to the nice materials used in my 2022 X6M.... the BMW is absolutely without a doubt, the better value overall.

Ferrari is pricing it where it is simply because they can. Just like they do with all their stuff. Work or art or whatever you want to call it. Their stuff is beautiful but just like anything else at the top end in life is simply over priced beauty or can be and they know they will get away with it. Plus it keeps it exclusive to the small percentage of people on the planet that can pay for it. So it’s a win win for Ferrari.

I thought I read somewhere a while back that Ferrari rather race and only sell cars to pay for that. That mantra alone is worth the price of entry. Racing isn’t clean or pretty. I like Ducati because of their racing background too. I would of been all about BMW Motorrad like I am with BMW cars if if made more money when I was younger. But I started on Ducati (motorcycles are relatively cheap, less than a Honda Civic). Prob why I’m with BMW cars now and not Porsche. I couldn’t afford a Bimmer until my 30s and now I’m all about em.

It's a good point, I can remember being pretty happy just buying my first new car. Before long we both had new cars. Then it was a couple new cars and a truck to pull the bass boat. The new cars got better as my business took off.
Through the whole time there has always been a value vs income paradigm in play on the various forums. On the Mustang or Camaro forums a vette is much more expensive but only a little more car, the value is not there with the vette. Go to corvette forum and it is almost as good as a 911 and now the vette is the value play and the 911 doesn't make the cut. Go to the Porsche forums and your often comparing to exotica but the same dynamic is in play, the Porsche is most of the car and the value isn't there with the exotica. That's a generalization but I've seen it play out in my own life and all around me in much the same way; with most things, not just cars. Value seems very much to be tied to income. As it gets higher, all of a sudden that next level toy is possible. |

A very good generalization for sure. It’s very easy for folks to try to validate their big ticket items this way. I try not to knock anybody’s preferences or reasons and rather celebrate with themif they’re stoked for their ‘thing’. If you gotta ask, you can’t afford it tho! Hahaha. Ive see some wealthy folks be cheap af and pinch pennies too tho. But in the end, we’re all humans (most of us anyways). Plus in America, anybody can shoot the the top 1% (or whatever).

The Ferrari drivers had some at the F1 race in MIA this past weekend, they are kind of cool. I could not get close enough to the cars to check them out, it was all high security.
