Removed Warning Stickers off of Visors - Much Cleaner

I had the X5 for a week before I removed warning stickers. There is a very good YouTube video on the removal that shows you how to do the removal without removing the visors.

nice! I have been wanting to do the same thing but nervous with the alcantara healiner. But looks like you have the same and didn't have an issue. Did you follow what is shown in the video?

I did. Driver's side peeled right off. Passenger side was a little stubborn but I got it off. Very easy.

That looks really clean. I need to try similar but did not get the alcantara headliner...

I actually tried a heat gun on the plastic non alcantara. I was scared but after trying for a few minutes I feel like that sticker is built into the plastic. I had zero success with removal.

I didn’t even notice it, I just went to check my X5 and there it is! Mr. Observant here, I’m embarrassed to say I was an imagery analyst in a previous life!

Hate to do this but a huge warning to anyone with Alcantara. I did it after reading a post from someone who did it on their X7 (if I remember correctly) with Alcantara. I removed on our previous 3 series (no Alcantara) and it was a breeze. But like the OP, the driver side came right off but the passenger side was a different story. For me, the passenger side couldn't be salvaged (photos attached) and I ended up having to buy a complete OEM European replacement set from IND. Hate to throw cold water on this but thought I should share my experience as I would've left as-is if I knew the risk. Oh and hey, I have a brand new OEM European (no sticker) driver side visor if anyone is looking! Plan to post in the classified section at some point.

Even if the sticker comes off really well, in the right lighting, the outline (while it may be very light) is still there.

Wow, that is a bummer! If I had seen this before I did mine I would have been very concerned.

In 2016 I removed the stickers off of my wife's new M2 vinyl visors without issue. https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1308214

I can’t find the post, but I have seen someone have custom stickers made to go over the warnings. Looked pretty good. Will post a link if I can find it again.

removal of airbag stickers on Alcantara visors

Thanks to all of you who posted your tips & stories about removing the unsightly airbag warning stickers from the visors. Was feeling unusually brave yesterday and gave it a go. Happy to report it worked with minimal effort (and I did not even attempt to remove the visors first out of fear of breaking the clips).

Method I used:
91% isopropyl alcohol (put into small spray bottle) + microfiber rag
Sprayed alcohol directly onto corner of sticker (held rag underneath to catch any drips) and then pressed rag onto sticker for ~30 seconds. Started peeling (and praying I wasn't doing any permanent damage). Continued to spray sections where sticker would not peel easily.
Drivers side came off in large section with minimal bits I had to peel off with my fingernails. Passenger side was more difficult for some reason, but just continued to alternate spraying the alcohol and peeling.
After all sticker removed, I gave the whole section a wipe down with the microfiber and a bit of alcohol to remove any remaining residue. Followed with another wipe down with a clean microfiber rag with water a tiny bit of Dawn dish soap. Zero shadowing or outline left behind, no damage to the Alcantara. Entire process took about 15 minutes. My nails however will probably have tiny bits of sticker stuck under them for a few weeks - totally worth it.

I want to give this a shot... Curious if my blue Alcantara headliner will be as forgiving as the black? I guess only one way to find out!

For non-alcantara, this looks like a decent option:

My visors had the stickers printed on so I spray painted them with some vinyl dye to cover them up. Much better.

Mine came off so easy, I think it would be harder to see the glue on the white, than the black or blue. Just soak a paper towel in 91% (don't use 70%) isopropyl and let it sit on top for 2-3 minutes, mine peeled right up. Then I liberally applied a bunch to a micro fiber and used circular motions to remove the remaining glue from the Alcantara. Then I brushed with my Alcanaera brush, looks cherry.

Luckily mine all came off, but a slight glue ring in my opinion is still better than those ugly yellow stickers.
