Seems BMW do listen to feedback.. Perhaps i'll reconsider!
Just ignore what that dealer told you, there is no chance of that happening.

The only point i am making is that the M60i is possibly the worst sounding V8 on the market today.

If you dont call it out for what it is, then other people get sucked in and ultimately massively dissapointed.. as evident across this forum.
So so so sad I 100000000% agree and really not happy
I complained that they forgot to install the M performance exhaust and have booked in as per BMW request to have it looked at.
Maybe as all need to do this together.

The X5 2024 m60i sounds CRAP and really really really disappointing.
Jag sounds great
Merc sounds good.
BMW doesn't sound and why, sold the same places

Can this be reversed? For a leased vehicle, and how much did it cost?

Thanks

Sounds much better and cheaper alternative to getting downpipes (waiting for warranty to expire before going the downpipe + tune route).

Yes - if you unplug valves, just wrap them in electrical tape and tuck away. When your returning, just plug them in

As for for the x pipe. Your going to cut out of the resonator and put in a x pipe. When your going to return, just take your original resonator and get that welded on again

Is this the same with the ‘24 X5M? I’m wondering if an X5M exhaust will fix this.

Dang it, I just ordered a '25 m60i. Will be my most expensive car to date and first one that I custom order.

I will not turn off the iconic sounds and I will try to forget reading everything about the sound

This is my first v8. So Im exited nevertheless! I hope in the future there's something minimal that can be done to enhance the sound.

Besides the sound, everything else about the car looks awesome!

Picking up my 25’ M60i any day now, looking into doing a muffler delete? Have any of you in here done one or something similar? Can’t find sound clips anywhere for exhaust stuff relating to this car!!

Congratulations on your order, but your First V8 is an underrated at 530 HP, twin turbo BEAST ? What did you do? Rob a bank?

You better be restrained behind the wheel, this thing goes way too fast for it's size and weight.

Exhaust input

We are currently working on a design for this, as I personally have a 2024 X5 m60i and looking to open this up quite a bit more.

Looking for feedback. Typically, common questions revolve around reversibility (ie lease end) as well as emissions and warranty concerns.

Assuming we can address these, what would be other questions or things we should consider? We would most likely do this in titanium, but can also do stainless.

Thanks !

TL;DR bolded for the main point!

I recently picked up a 2024 X5 M60i which comes with the S68 V8 and has an surprisingly muted exhaust note even after the run-in period and in the Sport Plus Drive Mode.

I was wondering if anyone has any information about aftermarket exhaust choices? I found this system when searching for accessories on BMW USA - and the page says "this fits your BMW" but in the description it says it was developed for the 40i inline 6 cylinder. When I called a local service center, they told me it's only eligible for installation in mainland China which frankly didn't make a ton of sense since it's listed on the BMW USA site. He had no guidance on what was coming or available from other third parties beyond mentioning I should look into Dinan.

https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRINT/8464

This all stems from an oversight I made when getting the car and not understanding there was a distinction between the M Sport Exhaust and an M Performance Exhaust. I assumed the M Sport Package Pro and M Sport Exhaust would deliver a prominent exhaust note. I didn't push the test drive demo car as it was still in its run-in period. One of a few oversights I made in my excitement to get back into an X5, unfortunately.

I traded in a 2020 Range Rover Sport Supercharged for my X5 (regular V8, not the SVR or anything) which I had made no modifications to and I was happy with its exhaust, so I'm not necessarily in need of anything ballistic to be satisfied. I actually quite like the exhaust note from the 2023 M550i with the N63 engine we recently picked up which has no modifications to the exhaust, either.

Open to any recommendations or guidance!

Window sticker attached if the existing equipment is needed/helpful.
I just got a full catback system from GCA Performance for my X5 M60i and am waiting on the install. Ill have some sound clips and install pics posted in the next couple weeks hopefully. Here's a link to the post I put up for it: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=31170366

You haven’t heard a Mercedes or Porsche V8 then.

Simple job.
Got down to check for sure the operation.
It is open all the way when called to open.
Closed all the way when called to close. .
Pulled the fuse that controlled the valve when it was open.
Stayed open all the time.
Most of the sound heard inside the car is the speaker system. Can be turned on-off. Switch on Console.
There is a slight difference in sound when going to Sport or Sport Plus this way, but that is the engine picking up on the Cams.

Received '25 x5m60i

So, I received the vehicle. As expected the sound is a disappointment. I am enjoying everything else in the car though.

Im hesitant on checking out any aftermarket options as I really don't want to mess with the warranty but something did catch my eye.

Is there an m performance exhaust system for the m60is? I believe mine came with the m sport exhaust according to my full order I just checked and I think they are different items.

The GCI upgrade sounds amazing but Im pretty sure I will get some backlash from the dealer if I go that way.

Thank you
