Castrol Edge Euro LL 17 FE+ 0W-20

If you do your own oil changes and want to get the oil that meets BMW specs Walmart has the Castrol Edge 0W-20 LL17-FE+ for $27.48 for a 5 Qt jug. If you buy 3, 5Qt jugs, you will have enough for 2 oil changes.

You can place an order online with free delivery if the store near you doesn’t Cary it. I ordered online received it in 2 days.

Yup, scooped up 7 quarts for $48 tax and shipping included. Got it in 2 days as well.

FCP now has the UFI oil filter for around $8. Got it for approx $16, shipping and tax included.

FCP is gonna have to drop the price of their oil change kit (currently around $75, not including tax).

I actually prefer the Castrol oil to Liqui Moly. Car idles more smoothly. Doesn't matter, really, both are incredibly good oils.

I looked at this oil as well. It's a great price! But man the old BMW oil rabbit hole. I sometimes wonder if BMW confuses itself on all the oils and specs etc.

For our 25 40i it doesn't even list the LL 17-fe+. Only the 12W and LL-01 fe. But I've seen multiple threads of other years of B58 engines with different specs even with exact same engines. It's nuts to say the least. Then on top of that, dealers will then put in what they have or something different at times. I've had it happen at my dealer.

I ended up going with LL-01 FE liqui moly 0w-30 just to suffice under warranty. After warranty and or free oil changes by dealer I will branch out. In our other bimmers I've used various oils and never had issues. I think just use a quality oil and filter at decent intervals and call it a day.

Yeah I don't see FCP lowering price. Liqui-MOLY and stuff like Motul are top tier premium oils that are expensive.

I wish that some of the Euro sites would offer stuff like Castrol but they all seem to just offer stuff like BMW, Motul, Red Line, Liqui- Moly, Pentosin etc.

I think if you use good quality oil and change it without prolonged intervals, and within the weight range of the manufacturer, you will be OK. And without going down the which oil is better rabbit hole.
