Hey,

Has anyone had experience in coding with BimmerUtility? I guess E-sys is no longer available. Anybody have updated instructions?

E-Sys is still available. BimmerUtility replaced LauncherPRO, and it can be used like LauncherPRO in conjunction with E-Sys, or it can be used as a standalone Coding solution.

Wanted to add my experience here, as I just picked up a new-to-me X5 with the touchscreen delete. While I do write code for work, I have never hooked any car up to an OBD port, so this was all new to me.

Many thanks to Mckelvie37 for making the video showing how to take apart the dashboard. The Torx T27 near the instrument cluster was REALLY tight, so I ended up using an impact drill to back it out, as I would have been in big, big trouble if it stripped.

I coded using BimmerUtility, an old Win10 laptop and this $10 cable.

Coding was simple - open BimmerUtility, connect, unselect 6UY, calculate changes and push the code to the car. While I was there, I also disabled the two warning messages at startup.

Start to finish, the process took under an hour.
