What's like owning a 2020 X5M Competition?

I happen to see a black 2020 X5M Competition at a Toyota dealership. 2 owners, 44k miles. No accidents. Car is a beauty, and the specs are mind boggling, at least to me.

What's the general consensus on owning a F95 out of warranty? Big risk? Any big ticket items that are known to fail? What would one be looking at in terms of maintenance and repairs?

Docboy, I recently purchased a used 2020 X5M Comp. with 29k on the odometer but with expired warranty. I ended up purchasing BMW powertrain warranty for 3 years for some peace of mind being that I was now the 3rd owner. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase.

I'd recommend buying a one owner vehicle. And that warranty will be key. There are gems out there - ones well maintained, usually enthusiast owned.

F95s are pretty reliable, however there are some replacement parts that could cost you a quarter of the value of the vehicle if they go. I'd highly recommend buying a warranty of some sort, could possibly be the best $4,000 you ever spend on the car.

Would you mind sharing what potential replacement parts would one be looking if they fail?

I could not even begin to comment or speculate on what may break in your truck, however lots of people have lost differentials, transfer cases, turbos, motors, MGU's and other expensive computers for little to no reason at all. These are great trucks, but when shit goes wrong, it costs real money...

This is an SUV, not a truck.

Definitely not a truck; those have body-on-frame.
This is a bit of a generic statement and equally pertains to all human-made machines.

I had my 2020 for over a year and had zero problems thus far. Most modern cars (with only a few exceptions) are pretty reliable if maintained appropriately and timely.

Oh, my bad—didn't realize we had a truck vs. SUV grammar police on duty. Whether it's called a truck or SUV, hopefully we can agree it's definitely not a car. But hey, thanks for being a stickler for the small stuff...
