Have any “Week 32” X5 buyers received any good news? I need a car soon. Porsche could be promising. Range Rover isn’t reliable. Hate to drive another Lexus but might have to. Haven’t heard from my CA in 3-4 weeks.

I’ve had a couple. LR3 and RR Sport. Great to drive. Awesome off-road. Lots of issues but all fixed under warranty. I would lease one, but not own.

I haven’t collected the car yet, will do so next week so I’ll have more info then but I don’t think anything will be replaced by the dealer until I receive an official recall letter from BMW, or software warning me to take the car to the nearest dealer. My gut feeling is that BMW cannot even tell which VIN is faulty and which isn’t. As it’s not dangerous to drive regulators in this country lifted the stop order but may have done so on the condition that BMW takes immediate action by replacing the part across the fleet produced so far. I’d be surprised if the software is able to check anomalies in my breaking pattern and figure out it’s faulty. I reckon it’s just a backlog queuing system telling me that my VIN is up for replacing the IBS.

I'm week 38 build for an X5 - my CA has told me twice - as recent as yesterday - "You are not affected. Only certain build dates are affected." // We shall see.

Just noticed that BMW said it was recalling 1.5M vehicles due to problems with their brake and cut their outlook for the year.
They lowered their anticipated profits for the year. Wonder if this means anything… They have a solution? More sales incentives? 🤔 |

At this point would say unlikely we will see any extra incentives but perhaps if demand warrants it. |

Got a call from the dealership this morning. They said parts are expected for affected vehicles at the dealership on 23rd and considering the number of vehicles to fix, they are expecting a late September to early October timeline. Funny enough 23rd is about 2 weeks from today

Question...are the new IBS parts the same for all models, or is there specific parts for X1, X5, X7 etc. My sales guy led me to believe that there were differences. Makes me wonder if this is true what model would ship first? Maybe overthinking this?
He did communicate that "parts were moving from the manufacturer" and that the dealer had sent a list of VINS prioritizing what vehicles they would like to see fixed first. I reached out to another BMW contact at another dealer, and he relayed that some parts would be arriving next week followed by the software update by the end of next week. Unfortunately, he said parts would be very limited for the first run, and after that shouldn't be a problem. Feels like we are on the cusp of this! |

I think (hope) that people who can pick up any from stop-sale would post its case. Otherwise, it would be another two more weeks; If so, I would walk out by requesting refund of my deposit and find other brands (MB GLB or Volvo XC40?). Today MINI dealer (mine is X1 and I also considered MINI Countryman before going to X1) texted me that he has 22 off stop-sale vehicles. |

My CA let me drive my 50e today, still under stop sale. They are expecting the software update late next week, after which it takes about 3hrs per vehicle. Expecting to take delivery by end of the month. |

I finally heard from my dealer, after threatening to find another dealership that believed in customer service. He said they expect the parts on the 20th and if will take 3 weeks or so th get caught up. So, that means my car will be sitting there for another month. Ugh!

while driving it noticed the ride was harsh compared to the test drive vehicle, my car has the 742M wheels with staggered 275/35 R22 in front and 315/30 R22 in the rear with air suspension and adaptive M suspension. I think the 22's may have been a tad bit too much causing the harsh ride, currently driving a 430i loaner which feels worlds better in absorbing bumps and potholes of our Ontario roads. Additionally, now with a late October to early November delivery I would need winter tires right away which makes the tires on the car right now useless on delivery so now I face 4 options 1) swap out the staggered setup for a square 275/35 R22 107 square setup with michelin all season 4 - cost $3200 from costco, the dealership says this could damage the trasnfer case but have seen members on this forum do this, so not sure 2) Get a set of winter tires staggered - 4500 without rims 3) just swap out the entire car and order another one - cost: lost discounts of approx 4k 4) take a very short term lease on whatever is available m340i/330i for 2 years and dealer says they will pull me out in 8 or 9 months- 0% interest and 5k off This car was from landed inventory and not something I custom ordered, couldn't test drive it before buying as it wasnt on the lot yet, just had the opportunity to drive it for the first time. Not sure if tires were over inflated causing the harsher ride but I think 20" tires would've been way better with the air suspension considering how the car feels on potholes. Not sure if anyone else with 22" wheels can chime in or if playing around with the adaptive suspension helps at all. |
