Parking Assistance Malfunction

Pulled out of a parking space today and my dash lit up with Parking Assistance and Automatic PDS activation malfunction messages. After parking and restarting, they came right back. The warnings keep popping up while I'm driving too. Anything I can try before heading to the dealer?Name: PDC.jpeg

Sensor may be damaged or faulty.

After parking for a while and coming back, the message no longer appears and has not returned in the last three days. Shall I chalk this up to a temporary software glitch or does it warrant a trip to the dealer?

Sometimes a patient reboot of the system is all it takes. When all else fails, reboot.

Well, it came back today, unfortunately. I guess I’m off to the dealer soon.

I'm scheduled to address mine when I bring it in for the scheduled OCI. I'm getting mine on Driver Assistance
Along the same lines of what the car can or cannot see - sensor wise

Presuming a dirty sensor, it can't see something, etc.....but my cars are fairly generally clean at all times

Dealer stated that the rear left sensors were causing the issue. They removed the bumper cover to inspect the sensors and connections and verified they were OK, so BMW had them do a software update to fix.

Hopefully this is fixed now, but I'm a bit suspicious that this was just a software issue and now I have to worry about if they put my bumper back on correctly.

As these things are more computerized. Hold down for seconds to let iDrive reboot, etc...mechanically aside, I can't how much $$ on computers one may spend when out of warranty.

I have a similar issue - let's see what the SA says when I bring it in for its scheduled oil change.

Problem came back two weeks later and my X5 is currently at the dealer for this and a (unrelated) trunk issue. They are replacing two of the rear sensors to address. Hopefully this is relatively straightforward without any cosmetic issues afterward.

for the wiki.

Side collision, Lane Departure, Blind Spot....was restricted.
The repair or fault, was just due to Vibration Module inside the steering wheel....needed replacement

Well, I'm now back at the dealer for the 3rd time for this issue. At the first visit, they updated software, at the second visit they replaced a sensor. Let's see what they do this time.
